
Alex Gordon made a spectacular catch to save runs in the sixth inning then scored on a wild pitch in the 11th, giving the Kansas City Royals a 2-1 win over the Chicago White Sox Wednesday night at Kauffman Stadium.
Gordon, who scored the tying run in the eighth, walked with two outs in the 11th before moving to third on Mitch Maier’s single up the middle. Sergio Santos 2-1 pitch to Billy Butler was low and in the dirt and got away from catcher A.J. Pierzynski, allowing the winning run to score.
Royals starter Bruce Chen allowed just the one run on four hits with four strikeouts over eight innings. Aaron Crow worked two scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win as the Royals take two of three from the Sox.
Kansas City is off Thursday before hosting Detroit Friday.
