The Hays Monarchs begin “AA” Zone tournament play Thursday afternoon in Pratt. The 18-12 Monarchs are the No. 2 seed and open with Hoisington in the first game at 2:30pm. Three-loss Pratt takes on Wellington in the other first round game with the two losers playing again at 7:30pm in an elimination game. The two winners meet at five o’clock Friday.

This is the first year the Monarchs, who are sponsored by the Plainville American Legion Post, have been eligible for zone tournament play.
