Jewasko One-Hit’s Dodge City In Larks Win

Lefthander Kirk Jewasko tossed a complete game one-hitter as the Hays Larks closed out the road portion of their season with a 10-0 win in Dodge City Thursday night.

The senior-to-be at Incarnate Word, allowed a single to the second batter he faced then held the A’s hitless the rest of the night. Jewasko walked two while striking out season best 12 and retired 15 straight at one point to move to 3-3 on the year.

The Larks score three in the fourth on an RBI single from MacKenzie Handel, a double from Cam Brown and a Tito Andino groundout. They blow the game open with five in the fifth home home runs from Sloan Soulia and Cam Brown. Soulia hit a three-run shot and Brown a two-run blast. Soulia finished with three hits and four RBI’s while Brown had two hits and drove in three.

The win moves the Larks (25-14, 17-12) back into a first-place tie with Haysville atop the Jayhawk League standings. The Larks are off today before opening a four-game series with Derby Saturday night.
