Hays Intervention Program Receives Certification

A Hays batterer intervention program has been certified as having met the core state standards.

NWKCC Strategies for Change was certified as having met the standards described in the Essential Elements and Standards for Batterer Intervention Programs. A new Kansas law enacted by the 2012 legislature requires batterer intervention programs to obtain certification from the Attorney General’s Office.

A certification panel conducted an evaluation and site visits before issuing the two-year certification.

The Northwest Kansas Community Corrections program was started in 2010 with grants from the Violence Against Women Act, Byrne program and United Way of Ellis County.
