Lydia Rome
Hays, Kansas – Lydia Rome, age 89, died Monday, December 10, 2012, at her home in Hays, Kansas.
She was born April 21,1923, in Catherine, Kansas, to Frank and Catherine (Meis) Karlin. She was raised by Edward and Sophie (Staab) Karlin. She married Clarence Rome on January 16, 1946, in Catherine, Kansas. He died October 13, 1986.
She was supervisor of housekeeping at the Best Western Vagabond Motel in Hays, Kansas for 33 years. She was a homemaker, a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Christian Mothers both of Hays, Kansas.
Survivors include one son, Mark Rome and wife,Laura, Hays, KS; two daughters, Patricia Rohr and husband, Tony, Munjor, KS; Marilyn Richmeier and husband, Leon, Hays, Ks; 9 grandchildren, Jennifer Stufflebeam (Darrel), Janelle Cavanaugh (Joe), Andrew Richmeier, Kelly Richmeier, Shawn Richmeier (Erin), Emily Baker (Garret), Scott, Rome, Eric Rome, Allie Rome; six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step parents, husband; one infant son, Edward; one brother, Alvin Karlin, two sisters, Anna Schmidt and Lucy Wasinger; and one infant brother, Ernest Karlin.
Services are 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 14, 2012, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, Kansas. Burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas.
Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, and from 9:30 to 10:45 A.M. Friday, all at Cline’s Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.
Memorials are to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church or Holy Family School.
