Drought is Hard on County Roads

Maintaining county roads during a drought is challenging. Ellis County Public Works Administrator Mike Graf spoke to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment about using oil well salt water on the roads, but found out that’s not likely to be approved because of the production chemicals that could be in the water.

Graf says other approved chemical treatments could cost around $7,000 per mile.
