This is the time for holiday parties, and Ellis Police Chief Taft Yates reminds everyone of a few basic things to keep in mind.

Keep an eye on the weather; if you’re driving, focus on the road and don’t allow yourself to get distracted; and if you are going to be drinking, make sure you have a designated driver.

Yates says there will be some increased patrols for public safety.

He also asks that we keep first responders and service members in mind during the holidays.
