Grand Slam Does Royals In

David Ortiz grand slam highlighted a five-run fourth inning and Dustin Pedroia extended his hitting streak to a career-best 24 games with a solo homer as the Boston Red Sox down the Kansas City Royals 12-5 Wednesday night at Fenway Park.

The Royals jumped out to a 3-0 lead on an Eric Hosmer three-run homer in the top of the first. The Red Sox answered with solo homers from Jacoby Ellsbury and Pedroia then added three in the second to take the lead before blowing it open with the big fourth. oston has won 19 of their last 23.

Bruce Chen takes the loss for Kansas City who got a mammoth home run from Billy Butler and three doubles from Alex Gordon.
