Senior Legion Stays Alive At “AAA” State Tournament

The Hays Eagles Senoir Legion stays alive at the "AAA" state tournament with a 6-5 win over Arkansas City Thursday.

The Hays Eagles Senior Legion stays alive in the “AAA” State American Legion baseball tournament, holding off the Arkansas City Black Diamonds 6-5.

The Eagles trailed 4-1 before scoring four in the sixth, highlighted by a Riley Kaus two-run homer, his second of the tournament. Jarrett Sanders added a solo homer in eighth to put the Eagles up 6-4.

Arkansas City scored a run in the ninth before Tyler Wooldridge induced a ground ball to end the game with two runners on.

Wooldridge pitches a complete game to move to 6-1 on the year, striking out eight.

The Eagles improve to 29-17 and will play another elimination game Friday against the loser of theĀ Emporia/Olathe South game. That contest was delayed twice by lightning Thursday night and will be played at 8am Friday.
