Rescued Dog Caravans Stop in Hays

Hays is known to be a great rest stop for many weary travelers along  Interstate 70.  Most need to stretch their legs or to get something to eat or drink.  The same goes for our canine companions.  And a special traveling group of dogs is getting some help from volunteers in Hays.  Linda Fox of Colorado Animal Rescue Express has been transporting rescued dogs from high-kill animal shelters to their new owners.  Many are from the May 25th tornado in Joplin, Missouri.

The caravan has been stopping at the Animal Health Center in east Hays twice a week this summer.  Volunteer dog walkers coordinated by Hays resident Tom Cole spend time with the animals as they take their break.

More tonight on Street Beat Eagle Community TV Channel 14.
