Royals Drop Series Opener With Baltimore

Bruce Chen allowed three runs on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings in the Royals loss to Baltimore Tuesday night.

Mark Reynolds went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and five RBI’s, as the Baltimore Orioles handed the Kansas City Royals 8-2 in the opener of their three-game series at Kauffman Stadium.

Alfredo Simon gave up one run on four hits over seven innings to pick up the win. Bruce Chen allowed three runs on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings to suffer the loss and drop to 5-5. He walked four and struck out two.

Eric Hosmer and Billy Butler each drove in a run for the Royals who had won three of four. The win snaps a three-game skid of the O’s.
