Adults Reminded of Social Hosting Law

ellis co sheriffThe consequences for allowing minors to drink on your property can be stiff, and Ellis County Sheriff Ed Harbin says the law extends beyond the home.

Kansas Social Hosting Law says an adult can be held responsible for underage drinking at their home or other places secured by the adult for the gathering, which for example, can include a hotel room or a pasture.

Harbin says adults hosting parties need to keep an eye on who is drinking alcohol. Conviction can include a minimum $1,000 fine.
