41st Street Construction Plans Unveiled

Four options for the reconstruction of 41st Street were presented to the Hays City Commission Thursday night. Engineer Chuck Bartlett said the recommended plan is higher than the budgeted amount and would provide three lanes and curb and gutter from Hall Street to the 183 By-pass.

This plan also includes a hike and bike path on the north side of the street and would not require the removal of the evergreen trees along the golf course. This plan is estimated at $3.14 million. The budget is $2.94 million. The city will be getting KDOT funding and can use stormwater fees to help with a detention pond and some special parks fund money for the multiuse path. The commission will vote on the plan next week.
