Financial problems forced Hutchinson Regional Medical Center to lay off workers less than a year ago. Under the guidance of new CEO Kevin Miller, the hospital’s financial situation has improved and they will announce plans today for a $5 million renovation and expansion of the emergency department at the hospital. This will more than double the number of ER beds and provide more privacy for patients. The current ER at the Hutch hospital had not been upgraded since the mid 70s.
