The Fort Hays State women’s and men’s cross country teams were each selected to finish sixth in the MIAA in the Preseason Coaches Polls. On the men’s side, Central Missouri was picked to finish first, while Missouri Southern and Pittsburg finished tied for first in the women’s poll.
For the men’s team, Fort Hays State received 20 points, just one point behind fifth place Southwest Baptist. Central Missouri totaled 49 points with Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State tied for second at 38 points. Northwest Missouri received 31 votes to finish fourth in the poll and Southwest Baptist finished ahead of FHSU with 21 points. After the Tigers is Truman (16 points) and Emporia State (11 points) respectively.
The women’s side saw the Lady Tigers finish sixth with 29 points. Behind FHSU in the poll were Central Missouri (26 points), Emporia State (16 points) and Lincoln (eight points) for seventh, eighth and ninth respectively. Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State finished tied for first, followed by Northwest and Truman tied in third with 45 points. Southwest Baptist placed fifth in the poll with 41 points.
