Funeral for Victim of Friday’s Accidental Shooting set for Wednesday

The body of Courie Cox is at Fitzgerald funeral home in Ness City. The 12-year old girl was killed in an accidental shooting Friday night in the Ness County community of Bazine. The KBI spent the weekend interviewing individuals involved in the tragedy and will reveal additional details as early as today.  No arrests in the case have been made. A complete obituary is below. Courie Kae Cox, age 12, passed away at her home in Bazine on Friday, February 15, 2013. She was born on December 21, 2000 in Hays, Kansas the daughter of Darrin and Rebecca Foos Cox.

She was a sixth grade student at the Ness City Elementary School and a lifetime resident of Ness County.

She is survived by her parents, three sisters, Kaylee Cox and her son Ethan, Ness City, Cassi Barnett, Hays, Kinzi Cox, Bazine; grandparents, Rick and Linda Cox, Hanston and Fred and Karla Foos, Larmar, Missouri; and great grandmother, Wilma Drake, Ness City.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Kason Foos and an uncle, Justin Cox.

Funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church, Ness City with burial in the Bazine Cemetery. Rosary and visitation will be on Tuesday, February 19, 7:00 PM at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City. Friends may call on Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City. Memorial contributions may be given to the Cox Educational Fund.
