Utility companies are using today, 8-11, to remind people to call before they dig. Common GroundAlliancesays in 2010 there were over 170,000 damages to buried facilities across the country because someone didn’t dial 811 to find the location of buried utilities. 

Kansas One-Call notifies the appropriate utility companies of intent to dig. Professional locators are then sent to the requested digging site to mark the approximate locations of underground lines with flags, spray paint or both.
