Former Fort Hays State wide receiver Cordarol Scales signed as an undrafted free agent with the New York Jets on Wednesday (August 10). Scales is the second FHSU player to sign with an NFL team this summer after fellow teammate and wide receiver O.J. Murdock signed with the Tennessee Titans in late July.

Scouts around the NFL took notice to Scales abilities during the 2010 season and his large frame, standing at 6-feet, 4-inches and 220 pounds. Not only was he a solid possession receiver, but he often provided big key blocks downfield to help the Tigers’ explosive offensive attack.

Scales finished as a two-time All-MIAA Honorable Mention selection at wide receiver. He caught 33 passes in 2010 for 527 yards (second-most on the team behind Murdock) and six touchdowns. Scales went on to participate in the 2011 Cactus Bowl in January (NCAA Division II All-Star Game).
