Recognized for Distinguished Leadership

 

FHSU Athletics, the FHSU Foundation and Cerv’s Conoco recognized two Tiger student athletes during Friday night’s basketball game. The Distinguished Tiger Leadership Awards were presented to Makenzie Weinman, a junior volleyball student athlete from Phillipsburg and Alex Hendee, a senior member of the Cross Country team from Roeland Park, Kansas.

This program annually honors one female and one male student-athlete for their outstanding contributions in the classroom, on the court and track, and in the FHSU_Hendee, Alex  Cross Countryplayer_Weinman, Makenzie  FHSUcommunity. Nominations were made by head coaches and voted on by committee members. Criteria considered were: dedication, volunteerism, teamwork, and positive attitude.

Makenzie is majoring in accounting. She maintains a 3.18 GPA and has been an honor roll recipient every semester. Makenzie’s coach, Kurt Kohler has described her as an excellent team player and leader who often sacrificed personal glory to benefit her team.

Alex is a graduating senior majoring in Political Science and maintains a 3.20 GPA. His coaches refer to him as one of the most accomplished FHSU runners in our NCAA history. He is a 9 time ALL-MIAA runner who also holds 2 time ALL Region and Academic ALL American titles.
