The Hays Fire Department made three runs to check out fire alarms before noon on Saturday.  (watch the first one below) All three trips were to McMindes Hall at Fort Hays State University.  Two of the runs involved a malfunctioning smoke detector in the cafeteria. The other alarm was for food burning in a Microwave oven.  Hays Fire Captain Ditter told Hays Post, “It’s our job and we are on duty 24 hours a day. They are going to do some maintenance on the smoke detector. I hope they get it fixed.”  Approximately 500 students live in the dorm that has a newly renovated cafeteria, according to the FHSU web site.  McMindes Hall was built in 1963
