Outfielder Bubba Starling has agreed to terms with the Kansas City Royals, just before Monday night’s deadline to sign picks from June’s First-Year Player Draft.
Starling, who hails from Gardner-Edgerton and had also signed to play football at Nebraska, will receive a $7.5 million signing bonus spread over three years. It’s the largest signing bonus ever given by the Royals.
Moore says the deal with the 18-year-old projected center fielder wasn’t struck until the final minutes prior to the 11:01pm CT deadline.
Starling had participated with Nebraska’s Media Day but had not practiced with the Huskers.
