The Hays High baseball teams opened their season with a doubleheader sweep of Pratt yesterday afternoon in Pratt. The Indians won the first game 11-0 in five innings. Hays High’s Hayden Hutchison allowed just one hit in four innings and struck four for the win. He was also 2-2 at the plate with four RBI’s. Layne Downing was 2-for-3 with 2RBi’s.
In game two Hays scored four runs in the first and seven in the 5th on their way to the 15-4 win. Hutchison was 4-for-4 with 2RBI’s, Downing has 3 RBI’s and Chandler Rule and Zach Legleiter both added 2RBI’s.
With four more double, two in the first game and two more in the second, Hayden Hutchison set the career record for doubles, with 30. Hutchison had 26 doubles last season.
The Indians start the year 2-0 and they will host Dodge City on Tuesday.
