Holub Carries No. 17 FHSU Softball to Sweep Over Truman

FHSU-SB-HolubThe Fort Hays State softball team didn’t allow a run as they Truman 1-0 and 4-0 Friday afternoon in Kirksville, Missouri.  The No. 17 ranked Tigers have now won 12 of their last and improve to 25-5 overall and 7-1 in the MIAA. Truman falls to 16-8 and 4-4 in the conference.

Game 1: Fort Hays State 1, Truman 0
Maddie Holub throws the second complete game no-hitter in her career and the sixth no-hitter in FHSU history. Holub (13-1) struck out nine while walking one.

Holub’s solo home run in the third inning was the game’s only run.

Game 2: Fort Hays State 4, Truman 0
Maddie Holub tied the FHSU single-season record for home runs in a season with her 13th. Her first inning solo shot gave the Tigers all of the runs they would need for the doubleheader sweep. The Tigers scored two in the third on a throwing error and wild pitch. A bases-loaded walk in the fourth produced the final run for the Tigers.

Paxton Duran (10-4) gets the complete game shutout victory allowing six hits while striking out five and walking one.
