Hays Roosevelt Elementary School students were impressed this morning when they learned U-S Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS) works with President Obama. But on this first day of school for USD 489, Moran told the students they were already in the presence of important people–their teachers.

This was also the first day on the job for new principal Lee Keffer, who transferred from the same position at Kennedy Middle School which will close at the end of this academic year.   Shanna Dinkel, the Felten Middle School Assistant Principal, has been named principal of Kennedy  for its final year.
