The TMP-Marian baseball team has won eight of their last nine games following a doubleheader sweep of Salina Sacred Heart on Thursday at Larks Park. TMP won game one 6-3 behind seven strong innings from sophomore Kameron Schmidt. The Monarch offense scored 3 first inning runs and never looked back.
TMP blanked the Knights 6-0 in the second game. Senior Shane Zimmerman picked up his second win of the season and worked out of a couple of jams including a bases loaded, two out jam in the top of the sixth inning to preserve a 3-0 lead. The Monarchs would tack on 3 runs in the bottom of the inning to secure the win.
The Knights came into the doubleheader averaging nearly 12 runs per game and falls to 9-3 on the season. TMP improves to 8-4 on the year and will have a pair of doubleheaders on the road next week. At Russell on Monday and at Larned on Tuesday.
