The city of Hays issued the following update today on the Vine Street construction project.

“Effective, Tuesday, May 7, 2013, 17th Street access from Vine Street will be completely closed. 18th Street access from Vine Street will be opened.

Construction continues along the west side (southbound lanes) of Vine Street. Those lanes, along with the center turn lane will be closed and traffic will be redirected to the east lanes of Vine Street (one lane in each direction). During construction, there will be no left turns allowed in the construction zone.

Traffic control markings and signage will be in place to direct the traveling public. Some access points along the west side of Vine Street will be closed, alternate access from side streets, alleys, and across adjacent properties may be required.

Access to businesses blocked by construction can be obtained from adjacent streets and alleys as shown on the attached map. Please remember that left turns are prohibited in the construction zone.
