“We were lucky,” Ellis County Sheriff Ed Harbin told Hays Post. “It could have been much worse.”  There were reports of some hail damage in parts of eastern Ellis County but no significant damage reported from the rope tornadoes that hit east of Hays on Wednesday night. “I’m sure there is water running over the road in some areas,” (9:15 p.m. Wednesday) Harbin said.
