Ellis county Law enforcement officials on Wednesday evening were dispatched to a report of  multiple gunshots in the 300 block of Jefferson Street in Ellis. Authorities spoke to residents on Jefferson Street and on Dorrance Street. Ellis Police officer Smull told Hays Post, “We finally determined the gunshots were probably fireworks.”
