Wild Wednesday Evening Weather (Updated Rainfall Totals)

There were dozens of reports of severe weather across Kansas on Wednesday afternoon and evening. High wind gusts of over 80 miles per hour were reported in Grant and Finney County, with some wind damage reported near Garden City. Ellsworth had wind gusts of over 70 miles per hour

Two-inch hail was reported in Clark County, Golf ball size hail in Comanche County in Southwest Kansas and near Wichita. There was smaller hail reported in portions of Ellis and Russell County along with the rope tornado in northeast Ellis County, 3 miles north of Catherine. No serious damage was reported.

Rainfall totals vary across Ellis County. Eagle Radio received .49 of an inch. Four miles west of Hays reported .45. Ellis reported .75  Catherine reported 1.80, and .30 five miles east of Ellis. The official rainfall total from the K-State Ag research center was .49 over the past 24 hours. That is 1.22 inches of moisture in May and 5.01 for the year.
