The Hays High baseball team’s bid for a third straight trip to the 5A state tournament comes up short as the Indians fall 3-2 to Goddard-Eisenhower in the first-round of the Great Bend 5A Regional. The Indians end their season 15-6.
Eisenhower broke a scoreless tie with three in the top of the fourth. The first two runs scored on a Bryce Minor triple.
The Indians answered with a run in the bottom of the inning on a Zach Legleiter two-out double.
Daniel Bittel’s two-out single scored Marcus Altman with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Hayden Hutchison followed with a single to left to put runners at the corners, but Chandler Rule flied out the center to end the game.
Hutchison takes the loss, allowing three runs on seven hits striking out three. It was the first earned runs allowed by the senior this season.
