Fort Hays State men’s basketball announced five signings for the upcoming 2013-14 season. The signing class includes four transfers and one high school signing. Signing with the Tigers are junior transfers James Fleming, Nick Riley, and Jared Tadlock, sophomore transfer Jake Stoppel, and true freshman Drew Kite.

Fleming, a 6-foot, 1-inch, 170-pound guard, transfers to FHSU from Fort Scott Community College. In 2012-13 as a sophomore, he averaged 14.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game, while shooting 46.8 percent from the field and 43.4 percent beyond the 3-point line. He was an All-KJCCC Second Team East Division selection and All-Region 6 Second Team selection for NJCAA Division II. Prior to playing at Fort Scott, Fleming played his freshman year at Parkland Community College in Illinois, where he averaged 6.1 points per game. Fleming is a native of Hanover Park, Ill., a suburb of Chicago.

Riley, a 6-foot, 1-inch, 180-pound guard, is transferring from Northwest Kansas Technical College, where he played his sophomore season. He averaged 10.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game last year, while shooting just over 42 percent from the field. As a freshman, Riley competed at Mesabi Range Technical College in Minnesota, where he averaged 12.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. Riley is a native of Hopkinsville, Ky., and was a member of a state championship team in high school.

Tadlock, a 6-foot, 9-inch, 210-pound center, transfers to FHSU from NCAA Division I Miami University of Ohio. He appeared in 17 games last year as a sophomore and appeared in five games as a freshman. Originally from Conifer, Colo., Tadlock competed for Chris Prep in North Carolina, where he helped the team to a National Prep School Tournament championship his senior year.

Stoppel, a 6-foot, 5-inch, 205-pound forward, comes to FHSU from Neosho County (Kan.) Community College, where he competed for one year. As a freshman, Stoppel led Neosho in scoring and rebounding at 14.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, while also adding 1.3 assists per game. Stoppel was an All-KJCCC Second Team East Division selection and All-Region 6 Honorable Mention pick for NJCAA Division I. Stoppel, a native of Wilson, Kan., was a first team all-state selection at Wilson High School, where he was the third-leading scorer in the state at 27.9 points per game as a senior.

Kite comes to Fort Hays State from Scott Community High School in Scott City, Kan., where he was a standout basketball and football player. Kite was a Kansas All-Class First Team selection in basketball as a senior, averaging 19.5 points and 10 rebounds per game. He helped Scott Community to a third consecutive state championship in basketball in 2013. He averaged a double-double his final two years of high school. He was also a Kansas All-Class Top 11 selection in football as a tight end and linebacker and the 3A Defensive Player of the Year. He was first team all-state and a third team all-class selection as a junior in basketball as well. Kite stands at 6-feet, 4-inches and 215 pounds.
