Tornado Touches Down North of Salina

7:40 p.m. update  Law enforcement in Ottawa County have reported a variety of damage in around the Bennington area. There is also a flash flood warning because of the heavy rain from the storm.

 

 

A large wedge tornado landed near Bennington in Ottawa County on Tuesday evening.

NWS Topeka confirmed that it is a very large, slow moving wedge tornado. It set off debris sensors. Anyone in Bennington or Minneapolis should consider it an imminent threat and remain in shelters.

The tornado was reported to be approximately a mile wide and estimated wind speeds are at 1750-200 miles per hour. Moderate damage is expected to trailers, mobile homes. There have been reports of golf ball sized hail, as well.
Another tornado had landed in Corning, KS around approximately 4:00 pm earlier today. Corning suffered scattered damage, including some buildings that were completely destroyed.
