6:15 p.m.  Ellis County Rural Fire crews were able to fight high winds and put the I-70 fire, east of Ellis out . They also helped city of Ellis volunteer firefighters control the blaze at the city compost site. There has been a lot of smoke but no injuries reported..  We will report additional details as they become available.

 

4:40 p.m. Firefighters in the city of Ellis have been dispatched to a fire at the compost site near  501 W. 6th. street.

Another fire has been reported on I-70 Westbound in the north ditch a mile east of Ellis.
