Frances D. Weibert

Frances D. Weibert, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019 at the Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City, Kansas at the age of 102.

Born on July 16, 1916, in Everton, Missouri, she was the second oldest of six children born to Wilson “Ovid” and Zella Drisdel McMillen.

On March 7, 1949, she married Alex Weibert in Wichita, Kansas where she worked at Cessna, and he worked for Boeing. Moving from Wichita, Kansas, they remained residents of Scott City, Kansas, where he was a farmer and custom harvester and she retired as Assistant Scott County Treasurer.

Frances was beautiful inside and out and will be remembered for her gentle and kind spirit, keen sense of humor, and a fierce love of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband – Alex, who passed away on August 18, 1984, son – Gary Weibert, four brothers – Dale, Berl, David, and Clarence “Bull” McMillen, and one sister – Alma Morris.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mary Ann Gaylord of Honolulu, Hawaii, one grandson Ross Gaylord of St. Petersburg, Florida, and one granddaughter, Carlie Weibert of Houston, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019, at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas, with Rev. Kyle Evans presiding.

Memorials In Lieu Of Flowers may be made to the Scott County Hospital in care of Price & Sons Funeral Homes.

There will be no calling times. Internment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.

Henrietta June (Tien) Van Kooten

Henrietta June (Tien) Van Kooten was born April 22, 1928, the daughter of Garrit and Gradda (Veldhuizen) Tien on the family farm near Prairie View, KS.

She entered the kingdom of Heaven on Wednesday, March 6, at the Kearney Regional Medical Center, Kearney, NE, at the age of 90.

Services are pending with Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel.

Sally Buchholz

Sally Buchholz, age 70, of Hill City, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019.

Rose Ann Giebler

Rose Ann Giebler, 88, Hays, died Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Via Christi Village in Hays.

She was born February 25, 1931 in Antonino, Kansas one of 17 children to Mike and Mary (Stecklein) Befort. On May 16, 1953 she was united in marriage to Charles V. “Chuck” Giebler in Hays and they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last year. She was a homemaker and co-owner of two businesses with her husband, Centennial Carpets and the Putt-Putt Golf Course. She was a member of the St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church and was a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed Easter egg hunts with her grandchildren, working Saturday nights at the Putt-Putt golf course with her husband, and sewing wedding dresses for family and friends. She loved gardening, yard work, and traveling with her husband.

Survivors include her husband; Charles V. “Chuck” Giebler of Hays, two sons; Charles Giebler and wife Carla of Hays, and Kevin Giebler and wife Sue Ann of Dallas, Texas, a daughter; Wanda Rohr and husband Mike of Hays, a brother; Jim Befort and wife Esther of Broomfield, Colorado, a sister; Dorothy Gottschalk of Hays, five grandchildren; Christa Weigel and fiancé Josh Beiker, Jason Dreiling and wife Christina, Curtis Giebler and wife Natasha, Alex Giebler, and Kate Giebler, two great-grandchildren; Harper and Avery Dreiling, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, by brothers; Albinus, Robert, Bill, Ralph, George, Adam, Harry, and Mike Befort, and by sisters; Sister Firmina Befort, Ida Gross, Esther Riedel, Mary Leiker, Helen Weaver, and Oliva Legleiter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Friday, March 8, 2019 at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Hays, with Fr. Jarett Konrade officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 on Thursday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Friday, all at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine Street, Hays. A vigil service and rosary will be at 6:30 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.

Ronald Gene King

Ronald Gene King, age 77, of Ellis, Kansas died Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. He was born January 10, 1942, in Hays, Kansas to Clarence and Edna (Armbruster) King. He married Marilyn L. Schoenberger on November 30, 1963, in Ellis, Kansas. She preceded him in death on December 6, 2010.

Ronald was a lifelong farmer and rancher. He also worked as an automotive mechanic, custom harvester, and builder. He enjoyed racing, hunting, and fishing.

Ronald is survived by a daughter, Brenda Waring and husband Steve of Hays; a son, Rodney King and wife Colleen of Ellis; sister, Roxanne Trimbath of Hemmet, California; four grandchildren, Zach and Rhian Patterson of Hays, Robbie King, Kaylee Kingsley and husband Brandon as well as a great-grandson Brenton Kingsley all of Ellis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Paul Trimbath.

A celebration of Ron’s life will start at 7 PM Saturday March 9, 2019 at the Hays VFW 2106 vine street with dinner at 7:30.

Karen Rae Brungardt

Karen Rae Brungardt, age 73, of Hays, Kansas passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Hays Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67637. Burial will follow in St. joseph’s Cemetery, Hays.

Marilyn Lavina Wormeringer

Marilyn Lavina Wormeringer entered into Heaven on March 1, 2019 at the age of 79. She was born February 22, 1940 in Glencoe, MN to Rev. Elmer and Lavina Broetzmann.

Marilyn lived in several places during her life. Her father’s commitment to ministry led the family to Iowa, the Dakotas, Alabama and ultimately to Kansas. She married John P. Wormeringer III on June 18, 1961 in Great Bend, KS and they were blessed with a daughter, Shawna Lynn, in October of 1962. John’s job in the oil field relocated them to Oklahoma, Texas, and finally back to Oklahoma when he retired.

Marilyn had a passion for music from the time she was a young girl and it was something that she continued to enjoy for the rest of her life. Although she was unable to attend church recently due to her health, she was a proud member of the United Methodist church. She most recently attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Shawnee and previously attended New Life United Methodist Church in Moore. Marilyn was always willing to play the piano or organ, and fill in as a choir director any time there was a need. She had a true servant’s heart and loved her Lord.

Marilyn’s family meant the world to her and she loved every minute spent with them. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in passing by her parents, Reverend Elmer Julius Erwin Broetzmann and Lavina Evelyn Broetzmann (Reid) and a brother, Ronald Broetzmann.

Survivors include her loving husband of more than 57 years, John P. Wormeringer of the home; daughter, Shawna Mussatto and husband Craig of Norman, OK; grandchildren, Ryan Mussatto of Moore, OK and Macalah Mussatto and her fiancé, Gavin Swenson, of Oklahoma City; sister, Betty Perrin of Flippin, AR; nieces, Cindy Perrin of Flippin, AR, Lori Hertel of Hays, KS, and Pam Erickson of Russell, KS. She is also survived by a host of loving extended family and friends.

Services to honor Marilyn’s life are 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2019 at Moore Funeral and Cremation Chapel, 400 SE 19th St., Moore, OK 73160. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Norman, OK.

Sue Ann Dreher

Sue Ann Dreher, 67, passed away March 4, 2019, at her home in Larned.

She was born June 14, 1951 in Great Bend, the daughter of Vernie and Fern Hart Barragree. She was a psychiatric aide at the Larned State Hospital.

Sue was a longtime resident of the area, moving from Great Bend to Larned in 2010. She belonged to Cross Winds of Kansas Church, Hoisington, KS. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and her dogs. She also loved helping at church, and dabbling into technology.

Survivors include: daughter, Sherry (Felipe) Trevino, Larned; sister Judy (Ora) Folsom, Great Bend; three grandchildren, Tanner Stevens and Sydney Stevens, both of Larned, and Dakota Stevens of Great Bend.

Preceding her in death are her parents and a sister, Karen Sue Barragree.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Cross Winds of Kansas, Hoisington, KS with Pastor Mark Williams presiding.

Nancy Marie (Dole) Poche’-Stoppel

Nancy Marie (Dole) Poche’-Stoppel, 70, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell.

Nancy was born December 21, 1948 in Russell, Kansas. She was the daughter of Kenneth D. and Dorothy M. (Brown) Dole. She grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in ’67. She then attended and graduated from the Cosmology School in Great Bend, Kansas.

Nancy was united in marriage to David H. Poche’. This union was blessed with two sons, Shane and Dustin. Later in life, she was united in marriage to Keith Stoppel on September 1, 2012 in Russell. They made their home in Russell.

Nancy was a Beautician for over 45 years in the Russell area. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed decorating and cooking. She was known for her holiday treats that she would create for family and friends.

Nancy’s surviving family include her husband, Keith of the home; sons, Shane Poche’ and Dustin Poche’ both of the Russell, Kansas; brother, William Dole of Russell, Kansas; step brother, Tony Kilian (Sharon) of Russell, Kansas; and two grandchildren, Hannah Poche’ and Chandler Poche’.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father and step sister Lori Kilian.

Celebration of Nancy’s Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Trinity United Methodist Church. A private burial will take place later. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

LoRee G. (Popp) Dietz

LoRee G. (Popp) Dietz, 90, of Hays, Kansas and formerly of Russell, Kansas, passed Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Via Christi Village in Hays.

LoRee was born March 24, 1928, in Barton County, Kansas, the daughter of William and Olinda (Schwartzkopf) Popp. She was Baptized and Confirmed in the Reformed Lutheran Church. She grew up in the Susank, Kansas area and graduated from Hoisington High School. She then attended Ft. Hays State University and obtained a Teaching Degree. She taught two years at North Star Dist #62 and two years at Rude School Dist. #91.

LoRee was united in marriage to Elroy Dietz on September 10, 1950 in Russell. This union was blessed with two children, Melinda and Martin. They made their home on the farm near Russell.

LoRee was a devoted wife and homemaker. She helped Elroy on the farm and kept the books for the farm. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school classes and Vacation Bible School. She was a cooking leader for the Sunflower 4-H Club. She enjoyed helping on the farm, sewing, cooking, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving family include her husband of 68 years, Elroy of the Home; daughter, Melinda Olson (Robert) of Russell, Kansas; son, Martin Dietz (Linda) of Russell, Kansas; three sisters, Delores Hanhardt of LaCrosse, Kansas, Theresa Dietz and Shirley Maier both of Great Bend, Kansas; four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

LoRee was preceded in death by her parents, son Richard Dietz, and brother Vernon Popp.

Celebration of LoRee’s Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 9, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church. Private burial of ashes will take place at a later date. The family will be present to greet friends from 10:00 AM to Service Time at the church. No visitation being held at the mortuary. Memorials have been established with St. John Lutheran Church or the Russell Regional Hospital.
