Harlan D. Campbell

Harlan D. Campbell Sr., Age 77, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas.

Harlan was born October 14, 1941 in Norton County, Kansas, the son of Guy Donald & Winona Jewell (Hayes) Campbell. A resident of Tribune since 1958, he was manager of the Farmco station in Tribune, Kansas.

Harlan was a member of the N.R.A., Kansas Trap Shooters Assn and the Anthem Masonic Lodge in Scott City, Kansas.

On May 18, 1960 he married Judith Vayrene McGinness at Tribune, Kansas

Harlan’s surviving family includes His wife – Judith Campbell of Tribune, Kansas, Three children – Harlan D. Campbell, Jr. of Tribune, Kansas, Erica Trevino of Tribune, Kansas, Vayrena Hamilton of Tribune, Kansas, One sister – Reva C. Brown of Golden, Colorado and Two grandchildren.

His parents, a daughter- Tammy I Campbell, a brother- William F. Campbell and a sister- Norma Jean Runyon precede him in death.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Friends may call from 1:00 pm through 8:00 pm Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Tribune, Kansas.

Memorials may be given to the Greeley County E.M.S. in care of the funeral home.

Helen M. Kaiser

Helen M. Kaiser, 88, died January 7, 2019, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. She was born December 19, 1930, in Odin, Kansas, the daughter of Alois F. and Regina (Hermann) Prosser.

On October 10, 1950, she married Frank S. Kaiser in Odin, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 30, 2001.

A longtime resident of Hoisington, Frank and Helen were former managers of the Dairy Queen.

Helen was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was active in many aspects of church, including the Altar Society, Parish Bible Study, as a Eucharistic Minister, in RCIA, Renew Program, and the Parish Council. She was also a Dominican Associate, a former member of Daughters of Isabella of Claflin, a member of the American Eagle Club and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

She is survived by children, Cletus J. Kaiser of Rogersville, Missouri; Timothy D. Kaiser and wife Janet of Wichita, and Gina A. Streetman of Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Natalie Warrick, Alan, Bradley, and Kimberly Streetman, and Matthew, Chelsea, and Lisa Kaiser.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; seven brothers, Tony, John, Bill, Joe, Julius, Leonard, and Louie Prosser; and seven sisters, Anna Steiner, Tillie Kramer, Jean Rome, Eleanor Kingston, Cecilia Tipperman, Catherine Schremmer and Mary Birzer.

Friends may call 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 7p.m.

Vigil with Altar Society Rosary will start at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Thursday, January 10, 2019, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery.

Betty L. Wagner, 84, of Russell, Kansas, died on Tuesday, January 08, 2018, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas

Lawrence Edward Mahoney

Lawrence Edward Mahoney, 80, of Liberal, passed away on January 6, 2019 at Homestead Estates Home Plus, Liberal, KS.

He was born on August 24, 1938 to Lawrence and Bernice (Swenson) Mahoney at Lyons, KS.

On December 22, 1963 he married Bernice Hillery in Oakley, KS; she survives.

Lawrence graduated from Lindsborg High School; class of 1956. He received his Bachelor Degree in Education from Bethany College. He received his MBA from Fort Hays State University. He taught at Oakley High School, Colby Community College and Garden City Community College. He was Vice-President and Dean of Fiscal Affairs at Colby Community College. He was Dean of Administrative Services at Garden City Community College. Retiring in December of 1999 to Table Rock Lake in Shell Knob, MO. Lawrence enjoyed boating, fishing, and spending time on the lake with his family.

He is also survived by three Daughters – Michele Schonlau and husband Matthew of Ulysses, KS,Tanya Dowell and husband Luke of Liberal KS, Marcie Albers and husband Heath of Warrensburg, MO.; Six Grandchildren – Cameron Schonlau and Cheyenne Derrick, Ryan Schonlau, Daniel Dowell, Nathan Dowell, Abbie Dowell and Heather Albers, Two Great Grand Children – Kennedi Lanham and Cole Schonlau. One Sister- Phyllis Mahoney Kelling and husband Lyle of Lindsborg, KS, and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Service will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Oakley United Methodist Church in Oakley, KS, with Pastor Wehling officiating. Burial will follow at Oakley Cemetery in Oakley, KS.

Bill Dean Lumpkins

Bill Dean Lumpkins passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at the age of 83. He was born on June 10, 1935 in Plainville, Kansas to Marion and Nevella (Benedick) Lumpkins. Bill married Virginia Malin on July 3, 1969 in Plainville.

Bill grew up in Plainville where he graduated from Plainville High School in 1954. After Bill graduated from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He left Plainville while on duty and later returned in 1995 after his 8 years of honorable service to our country. Bill was a talented carpenter and handyman. He found a love for restoring cars, and his proudest restoration was a 1935 Ford Phaeton. He also enjoyed the outdoors and had a love for hunting. Bill was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville as well as some car clubs.

While Bill liked spending time with his hobbies, his favorite time spent was with Virginia, their children, and later his grand and great-grandchildren. He was a loving, family-oriented man that always took in the opportunities to be with family never missing a family reunion.
Bill is survived by his wife, Virginia of the home; children, Richard (Pam) Lumpkins of Rawlins, WY, and Cinthia (Mark) Brown of Sinclair, WY; sister, Anita Taylor of Great Bend, KS; six grandchildren, Staci Nottestad, Valory Drayton, Timothy and Billy Lumpkins, Hailee Brown, and Britany Brattin; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Nevella Lumpkins; and sisters, Marilyn Gibson and Carolyn Clark.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home in Plainville starting at 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with Vigil service at 7:00 P.M. Jerry Lynn Turley

Jerry Lynn Turley, age 89, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at the Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. He was born on March 26, 1929, the son of Leonard Sampson and Alice Belle (Freeland) Turley in Galena, Kansas.

He graduated from Goodland High School in 1947 and served four years in the United States Navy, mainly stationed in Hawaii. After completing his military service, he attended Colorado University at Boulder where he graduated in 1959 with a degree in Pharmacy.

On October 9, 1963, he married Kathryn Louise Young in Englewood, Colorado.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathryn of Garden City; and his daughter, Alice “Ali” Belle James of Austin, Texas; three nephews and four nieces.

Cremation has been selected and no services will be held.

A private family interment will be held at a later date.

Cheryl Ann (Jurgensen) Jolly

Cheryl Ann (Jurgensen) Jolly, age 75, of Goodland passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019 at her home in Goodland.

Cheryl was born June 26, 1943 to Roy and Vivian (Gundersen) Jurgensen in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She grew up and went to school in Karval, Colorado. On November 27, 1961 she married John Thomas “Tom” Jolly in Limon, Colorado.

Cheryl worked as a ranch owner and operator in Eastern Colorado with her husband for many years which she dearly loved. She moved to Goodland in 2003 to be close to her daughter. She enjoyed gardening, her yard, birdwatching, photography and spending time with her family and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents; and her husband, Tom.

She is survived by her sons, Scott of Goodland, Kansas and Brett of Reno, Nevada; and her daughter, Dawn of Goodland, Kansas.

Memorial service will be Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. MT at the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 1116 Sherman Street in Goodland.

Edna Lee Degenhardt

Edna Lee Degenhardt, 88, Hays, died Sunday, January 6, 2019 at HaysMed.

She was born April 16, 1930 in Wichita Falls, Texas the daughter of Roy and Ida (Barnett) Cantwell. On September 22, 1947 she was united in marriage to Fidelis “Dale” Degenhardt at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pfeifer, Kansas. They celebrated over 65 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on July 16, 2013. She was a kitchen manager for the Hays VFW and American Legion and also at Hays Early Childhood Development. Edna also operated the thrift store named Second Hand Rose, and took care of the elderly. She loved animals and playing cards, did devotions for many years and was very prayerful. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and her local bridge club.

Survivors include two daughters; Mary Rohr and husband Larry and Amy Degenhardt and husband John Ziegler “Ziggy”, all of Hays, a sister; Faye Clifton of Granbury, Texas, two grandsons; Austin Rohr and wife Amanda and Aaron Rohr and wife Sophie, a great grandson; Axel Rohr, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale, and by two brothers and two sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1805 Vine Street, with Fr. Barry Brinkman officiating. Inurnment will be at 2:00 pm in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Pfeifer. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time on Saturday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society of the High Plains or to Hospice of HaysMed, in care of the funeral home. Everett G. ‘Ed’ Stegman

Everett G. “Ed” Stegman, 93, La Crosse, Kansas, died Friday, January 4, 2019, at his home.

Mr. Stegman was born May 28, 1925, on the family farm near Loretto, Kansas, the son of Andrew J. and Lucy E. (Sulzman) Stegman. He attended St. Mary’s Grade School, Loretto, Kansas, and was a 1943 graduate of Otis High School, Otis, Kansas. Upon his graduation, he managed the family farm until 1951 when he was drafted into the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany until his discharge in 1953. He was an automobile mechanic in Kansas City, Missouri, for 34 years before moving to La Crosse, Kansas, in 2006.

Survivors include: two brothers, LeRoy Stegman (Bernadette), Grand Island, Nebraska, and Harold Stegman, Loretto, Kansas; and two sisters, Evelyn Alexander (James) Wichita, Kansas, and Bernice Wiewel, Russell, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Gerald Stegman, Raymond Stegman, Melvin Stegman, and Donald Stegman.

Visitation will be Friday, January 11, 2019, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas. A vigil service and rosary will be at 7:00 P.M.

Memorial mass will be Saturday, January 12, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas, with Father Eric Gyamfi officiating.

Inurnment will be Saturday, January 12, 2019, at 2:00 P.M. in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Loretto, Kansas.

Frances Ann Prosser

Frances Ann Prosser, 89, passed away January 7, 2019, at Brookdale Assisted Living, Great Bend. She was born on May 13, 1929 at Odin to John B. and Regina (Schmidt) Werner. She married Norbert J. “Bones” Prosser, September 8, 1955 at Odin. He died January 18, 2016.

A longtime Odin resident, Frances was a homemaker, farmer and rancher. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella and Altar Society. Being a dedicated member of Holy Family Catholic Church, she devoted many hours to various activities, such as decorating the Church. She loved gardening, baking, hunting, camping and especially cherished time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include, two sons, Abe Prosser and wife Nona of Odin, KS, and Zack Prosser and wife Melissa of Beaver, KS; two daughters, Vicki Kaiser and husband Bob of Odin, KS, and Missi Prosser of Odin, KS; one brother, Tony Werner; two sisters, Loretta Rutherford and Irene Werner; eight grandchildren, Johnathon Kaiser, Emilee DeMartino and husband Victor, Joshua Kaiser, April Kaiser, Amanda Finn and husband Sean, Cameren Prosser, Isaac Prosser, and Zane Prosser; and four great-grandchildren, Victor DeMartino, Samuel DeMartino, Abigail Finn and Samantha Finn. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Norbert J. “Bones” Prosser; four brothers, John Werner, Robert Werner, Rudy Werner, and infant Raymond Werner; and four sisters, Theresa Miller, Annie Klug, Mary Gilliam and Margie Carey.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, 415 N. Main, Hoisington, and from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Odin, with an Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella Rosary and Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 11, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Odin, with Father Don Bedore presiding. Irvin Lee Vinzant

Irvin Lee Vinzant passed away December 24, 2018 in Englewood, Colorado at the age of 83. He was born July 23, 1935.

Irvin is survived by his wife Barbara Alice; children Tab William (Henrietta Hubenka), Todd Brian (Nicole Musmanno Vinzant); granddaughter Kimberly Anne (Tom) Macleod; great grandchildren Michael & Joseph Macleod; brother Herbert Patrick (Leona) Vinzant; three nieces; and one nephew.

Jarrod Shane Taylor

Jarrod Shane Taylor, 39, of Colby, KS, passed away Dec. 30, 2018, in rural Thomas County, KS, as a result of a vehicle accident.

Jarrod was born April 21, 1979, in Wellington, KS, to Rodney and Judith (Sutton) Taylor. Jarrod graduated from Colby High School in 1997. He attended NW Kansas Technical School and North Central Kansas Technical School.

Jarrod was a ‘big teddy bear’ as the ones closest would describe him. He was always looking to help anyone and everyone that he met. He always wore his heart on his sleeve, and you rarely wondered what was on his mind. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. He enjoyed heavy metal music and celebrating life with his friends and family. He was always good for a laugh and some humor when it was needed. He loved animals especially his dogs, Jasmine and Leta.

Jarrod is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Forest and Dorothy Taylor, his maternal grandparents Carl Sutton and Georgia {Trumbull) Sutton, his Uncle Steve Sutton, Uncle Ray Sutton, and Uncle Barry Taylor.

Survivors include his parents Rodney and Judith Taylor, sister Regina Suter and her husband Brett of Colby. His Uncle’s Bill and wife Gayla Sutton, Bob and Leah Sutton, Jim and Judy Lee Sutton, Aunt’s Karen Sutton, Cheryl Cooper, Candy and husband Alan Baird, Regina Rydquist and many cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, January 12th, at City Limits Convention Center, Colby, KS, at 11:00 AM. Jarrod had a passion for the Wounded Warriors Project. The family has set up a memorial to the Wounded Warrior Project and for funeral expenses under Jarrod’s name.
