Virginia Mae Spratling

(July 30, 1933 – November 26, 2017)

Virginia Mae Spratling was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She lived a life of tremendous strength, love, and grace. She showed her unconditional love for others by taking care of them and supporting them anyway she could.

Her life was filled with moments of joy, smiles, friendships, family, laughter, and sometimes tears. She poured love into her gardening and harvesting the vegetables, so she could share that love with others. She loved canning, baking and cooking. We are all going to miss her famous “chili mix” made with tomatoes, peppers, onions and love. Virginia looked forward to the apple harvest every year because she needed them for her pie baking. We all looked forward to so many things she cooked including dinner rolls, cakes, party mix, fudge, and all those amazing pies. She loved being in the kitchen but she also loved the outdoors. She loved hunting and fishing with the people she loved and being in the Black Hills of South Dakota eating salt water taffy. Any time with family and friends was her happy place.

Virginia took so much pride in her home and looked forward to having visitors. If she didn’t have a visitor, as many as you know she was most likely on the telephone. She loved being at home but she would not pass up an opportunity to go shopping.

Virginia lived and passed down a legacy of love for her family and friends that our grateful hearts will always treasure. We are all blessed to have Virginia in our lives. She is now in heaven, looking down on us smiling with her husband, family, and friends where they were all waiting for her to bake them an apple pie. We love and miss you.
