Rose Mary Goetz was born December 29, 1923 to Anton and Elenora (Heier) Ochs. She passed away August 25, 2017 at Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital in Wakeeney at the age of 93.
Rose Mary was born in rural Park, KS where she lived all her life. She attended school through 8th grade. On February 12, 1946, she was united in marriage to Leo Joseph Goetz at the Sacred Heart Church in Park where they remained faithful members. In 2008, her husband passed and she moved to Grainfield. In 2015, she moved to the Logan Co. Manor due to health issues.
Rosie was a homemaker and worked by her husband’s side on the farm as they raised their 8 children. She loved the farm life, which included stacking bales, milking cows, raising chickens, butchering, making noodles, gardening & canning She was proud to have a cellar full of food which showed her labor of love as a farmwife and mother. She also enjoyed making quilts & sewing. You could find her hand made sewing projects at craft shows in the area. When her children and grandchildren came to join in butchering, noodle making, or helping with a craft project, she had a huge smile and so proud to share her talents with them to carry on family traditions.
Rosie was very active in the Sacred Heart Church and Altar Society. She organized a group of ladies to serve a meal for the local AA’s on special occasions, helped with many funeral and Annual Father’s Day dinners.
She is survived by five daughters, Rowena (Duane) Zook of Salina, Elaine (Rick) Craft of Sedan, Janet (late Larry) Farmer of Oakley, Ellen (Ron) Eberle of Grainfield, and Eileen (Don) Hockersmith of Oklahoma City, OK.
Three sons; Albert (Kay) Goetz of Park, Edward (Denice) Goetz of Grainfield, Dean (Renae) Goetz of Hill City: Eighteen grandchildren: Loren Zook, Bruce Zook, Mollie Schell, Eric Craft, Sue Wendelbo, Diane Farmer-Hoeb, Terry Farmer, Brian Eberle, Kim Rumback, Mason Hockersmith, Ryan Hockersmith, Doug Goetz, David Goetz, Tyler Goetz, Tiffany Flieg, Trisha Bengston, Sara Bernhardt, and Marcus Goetz; Eighteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Rosie is also survived by two brothers Leo Ochs, Quinter and Billy Ochs, Park. She is preceded in death by her husband Leo; Son-in-law Larry Farmer: 3 brothers John, Pete & Stephen Ochs, 3 sisters Susanna Zerr, Anna Mary Zerr, & Esther Tanguay.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30, Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Park. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening, from 5 to 7 with a parish vigil to follow at 7 p.m. Both will be at the funeral home in Quinter.

Marvin “Shorty” Schumacher, of Hays, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in Hays at the age of 90. Shorty was born to Isidore and Cecilia (Dinges) Schumacher on July 4th 1927 in Hays, Kansas. He graduated from Schoenchen High School. Shorty was united in marriage to Mildred Dreher on May 26, 1947 at St. Joseph Catholic in Hays. Together, they celebrated 63 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on June 23, 2010.
Shorty spent his career as a car salesman, manager, and owner/operator for Lincoln Mercury for 40 plus years. He served in the United State Army/Airforce during World War II. Shorty was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and a Bishop Cunningham Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member. He was known as a tremendously hardworking, honest and dedicated family man.

Shaylena Gitchel of Hays, formerly of Phillipsburg, passed away August 24, 2017 at the Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO at the age of 12.
She was born February 21, 2005 in Hays, KS the daughter of Dustin Gitchel & Elizabeth Maness.
Survivors include her father, Dustin Gitchel & fiancé, Angela Barclay of Hays; mother, Liz Maness of Magnolia, AR; grandparents, Rick & Sharolyn Gitchel of Phillipsburg, Doug & Bettie Meade of Shoenchen, Evert & Donna Cox of Wichita; grandmother, Connie Beeson of Waldo, AR; and great-grandmother, Velma Snow of Phillipsburg.

Gail L. Möller, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, a beloved wife, mother, sister and nana, passed away as a result of a car accident on Thursday, August 10, 2017 in rural Trego County, Kansas at the age of 56.

Gail was born the daughter of David L. and Joyce C. (Morris) Tillotson on September 19, 1960 in Fort Ord, California. Survivors include her loving husband, Frank Möller; two sons, Dustin Tillotson and John Whitehouse; daughter, Heather Whitehouse; two brothers, David Tillotson, Jr. and Dale Tillotson; 10 grandchildren and a loving extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Michael Tillotson.
Gail loved shopping, her Shihtzu dogs and most of all, her family. She will be dearly missed.
Cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of life for Gail will be held at a later date.

Lawrence “Larry” Swartz, 68, left this life for his new eternal life on August 23, 2017 at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee Mission, KS. Larry was born March 20, 1949 to Ernest and Dema Swartz.

He graduated from Weskan High School in 1967 and received a Diesel Mechanics certificate from Northwest Kansas Vo-Tech, Goodland, KS.
Larry worked on the farm with his parents and grandparents until he moved to Denver in 1989. In Denver he had several different jobs. He was employee of the month several times at Office Depot. In 2012 he moved to Overland Park, KS to be closer to his sisters.
Larry was a friend to anyone he met. An aunt once said he brought a breath of fresh air into a room when he entered. He enjoyed movies, books and had recently started painting. He loved his cat Marilyn and told everyone about her.
He is survived by his sisters Colleen Ziegelmeier and her husband Lynn of St. Mary, KS and Lucinda Swartz of Kansas City, MO, two nephews Brian and Kyle Ziegelmeier, and a host of family and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Frank and Lola Goodwin and Hugh and Myrtle Swartz and sister Dana Ann.
Graveside services will be held on Monday August 28, 2017 at 10:00 AM MT at the Weskan Cemetery, Weskan, Kansas with Reverend Paul McNall officiating. There will be no visitation.

Phillipsburg resident, Lola M. Kline, passed away Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017 at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg, Kansas at the age of 96.
She was born in Cozad, Nebraska, on Feb. 22, 1921, the daughter of Willey & Rose (Shadduck) Brant.
Lola was united in marriage to Wm. A. Kline on Dec. 7, 1941 in Beloit, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 1982.
Survivors include her son, Bill Kline, of Phillipsburg; daughters, Jean Bruning of Phillipsburg and Roxie Walbridge of Grove, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 28, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Joel Hiesterman officiating. Private family burial will follow in the Delphos Cemetery in Delphos, Kansas.
Kline will lie in-state on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 26 and 27, from noon to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Elwin F. Cabbage, 87, of Hutchinson, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at Hospice House of Reno County. He was born Feb. 28, 1930, on a farm near Plainville, in Rooks County, Kansas, to Owen and Hazel (Vanderlip) Cabbage.
Elwin attended a one-room country school, started high school in Webster, Kansas, and in 1947, graduated from Stockton High School. In 1952, Elwin graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. In 1956, he earned his law degree from Washburn University School of Law.
Following law school, he became an associate of what is now Martindell Swearer Shaffer Ridenour. Elwin later became a partner in the firm and practiced law for the remainder of his life, a total of 61 years. Elwin began his civic service with the Jaycees (Junior Chamber of Commerce). He was a charter member of the Hutchinson Civitan Club formed in 1957 and was a life-time member. Through Civitan, Elwin was instrumental in establishing what came to be known as the Early Education Center. In 1970, he worked on the committee to form the Reno County Occupational Center, later known as TECH, where he also served on the board. In addition, Elwin served on the committee that established Reins of Hope Therapeutic Riding Program in 1994 and served on their board.
In 1966, Elwin helped organize the Reno County Association for Retarded Children, now known as The Arc. He served as president for the local organization and the Kansas ARC. While state president, he advocated for mandatory education for children with special needs and gifted children, which became state law. He was also a member of the National ARC board in the early 1970′s, which included meetings with Senator Bob Dole.
From 1978 to 1984, Elwin served as chairman of the Kansas Bar Association Legal Education and Admissions Committee and for many years on the Professional Economics and Tax Section. Elwin also assisted with legal work in developing the Cosmosphere and the Hutchinson Community Foundation. For 32 years, he served on the board for the Birger Sandzen Gallery in Lindsborg and also served on the board of the Kansas Area United Methodist Foundation. Elwin was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, and belonged to the D.U.O. Sunday school class.
On April 11, 1953 Elwin married Margaret Jean Moore in Topeka. Elwin is survived by: his wife of 64 years, Margaret; daughters, Janeal Cabbage of Olathe, Beth Horth (John) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Marcy McAfee (Chris) of Shawnee; and grandchildren, Jeremy Horth, Joshua Horth, and Meghan McAfee. He was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Dennis; siblings, Mildred Sammons, Earl Cabbage, Karolyn Cabbage, Velma Karr, and Larry Cabbage.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 17th and Main, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Michael L. McGuire officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. The casket will remain closed.

John A. “Hans” Luebbers, age 80, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017 at the Hospice of Reno County in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born on September 10, 1936 in Marienthal, Kansas, the son of August Casper & Beata Magdeline Kreutzer Luebbers. A longtime resident of Scott & Wichita Counties, he moved to Hutchinson, Kansas in 2007, he was a retired Grain Elevator Manager.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal, Kansas, American Legion of Hutchinson, Kansas and was a US Marine from 1957 until 1963.
On March 6, 1965 he married Veda O. “Toni” Armantrout in Raton, New Mexico. She survives.
Survivors include his Wife – Veda O. “Toni” Luebbers of Hutchinson, Kansas, One Daughter – Kelly French of Hutchinson, Kansas, One Step Grandson – Kyle French of Leoti, Kansas, One Step Granddaughter – Tara French of Wichita, Kansas, Four Brothers – August “Gus” Luebbers, Jr. of Marienthal, Kansas, James “Pete” Luebbers of Marienthal, Kansas, Don Luebbers of De Ritter, LA, Jerry Luebbers of Rainier, Oregon.
