Billie Max Garrison 79, of Hill City, Kansas died August 18, 2017 in Hill City. He was the son of the late Alonza Warren and Blanche Irene Trefethen. He is survived by daughters: Kimberly (LeRoy) Rohr of LaCrosse, Debbie Garrison of Hill City and step-daughter, Kelley (Kerry) Jones of Hill City; sons: Mike Garrison of Hill City, Scott Garrison of Augusta, Kansas, Austin Garrison of Logan, and step-son Kevin Griffith of Olathe and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and a son.

Don Mollenkamp
Don Mollenkamp, 97, passed away on August 21, 2017 at the Trego Lempke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, Kansas. He was born on March 9, 1920 on the farm in Trego County near Arnold, Kansas the son of Louis and Alvina (Huehl) Mollenkamp.
He was a farmer and stockman and a member of the United Methodist Church in Arnold. He enjoyed weekly meals and activities at the Ransom Senior Center, bowling and dancing in earlier years.
He married Vivian McKinley on March 1, 1944, in WaKeeney, Kansas. She died on March 21, 1982.
Don is survived by two daughters, Corlie and her husband, Chet Halbleib – Tucson, Arizona and Leisa and her husband, Tim Hansen – Colby; two sons, Gerald and his wife, Donna Mollenkamp – Oxford and Kirby and his wife, Dorothy Mollenkamp – Wakeeney; 12 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred, Walter, and George Mollenkamp and three sisters, Nettie Huxman, Luella Griffith, and Mildred Smith and a great granddaughter, Mia Dickson.
Funeral service will be on Friday, August 25, 2017, 10:00 a.m., at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City. Burial in the Arnold Cemetery, Arnold. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m until 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m.

Elvin ‘Spud’ Carmi Hobson
Elvin “Spud” Carmi Hobson, the son of Clyde and Ida (Fischer) Hobson, was born on November 10, 1931 south of Hardy, Nebraska in Republic County Kansas. He passed away on August 21, 2017 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 9 months, 11 days.
Spud was united in marriage to Norma Edwards on October 10, 1954 and to this union were born three children, Scott, Tony and Ann.
Spud was born in Republic County, raised there and then moved one quarter mile to Jewell County and lived his whole life there except for his 2 years of military service. On July 24,1952 he was inducted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged on May 20, 1954.
He was a member of the American Legion and served on the Bostwick Irrigation Board and the Hardy Co-op Board of Directors.
Spud attended over 1000 basketball games, watching his kids, grandkids and son’s teams play over the years. He was an avid horseshoe pitcher competing in several state meets.He enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends in Hardy and especially spending time with his family.
Spud was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Calvin and Clyde Jr..
He is survived by his wife Norma of Superior, Nebraska, son’s Scott of Hastings, Nebraska and Tony and wife Becky of Hays, Kansas and one daughter Ann Hobson of Superior, Nebraska. Seven grandchildren, Jason Hobson, Mandy Kamykowski, Mackenzie Oberst, Jordan Tuma, Shae Tuma, Samantha Hobson and Cash Hobson. Nine grandchildren, one sister, Betty Becker of Black Mountain, NC, a brother Dean Hobson and wife Shirley of Seattle, WA, two sisters-in-law, Edie Hobson of Pittsburg, Kansas and Oleta Hobson of Belleville, Kansas along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ruth Ann Patterson, 63, of Hays, Kansas, passed away Saturday, August 19th, 2017, in Salina.
Ruth Ann was born in Smith Center, Kansas on June 5, 1954, a daughter of the late Doris (Tompkins) Hay and Wilbur B. Noon, Sr.
On August 16, 1975, Ruth Noon married Jimmy Joe Patterson in Kensington, Kansas.
Survivors include husband, Jimmy Patterson of the home; sons, Justin Patterson and his significant other Lori McFarlane, of Hays, Kansas; Gusty Patterson, and wife Jill, of Russell, Kansas; Douglas Patterson and wife Krista, of Salina, Kansas; sisters, Wilma Barnes and husband Randy, of Des Moines, Iowa, Doris Craft, of Helena, Montana; brother, Wilbur Noon Jr. and wife Sharon, of Minneapolis, Kansas. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Austin, Rebecca, Wesley, Macy, Alyssa, Brooke, and Jarred.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Richard.
At the family’s request there will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 23rd at the First United Methodist Church, 305 W. 7th, Hays, Kansas, with Pastor Mike Rose officiating.

Doris E. Brooks
Doris E. Brooks, daughter of Edward H. and Luella (Lusk) Webber, was born April 6, 1922, in Alma, Nebraska, and passed away at the Andbe Home in Norton, Kansas, on August 20, 2017, at the age of 95.
Doris grew up in Alma and graduated from Alma High School in 1939. She worked for the Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C. for three years. On June 23, 1944, she married Jack P. Brooks in Norton. They first lived in Herington, Kansas, while Jack was in the service and following his discharge, they returned to Norton to raise their family. Jack passed away September 28, 1965. Doris worked at the Norton County Hospital as office manager until her retirement.
Doris was baptized at the age of 18 in Alma and after her marriage, she transferred her membership to the Norton Christian Church. She was a charter member of the Mid-Century Study Club and belonged to the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing and gardening and her embroidery talents were extraordinary. Doris felt much love by her parents, husband, daughters, granddaughter, and brothers, who were her greatest joys in life.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mary Christine Kent, Arvada, Colorado; and Barbara Jane Brooks, Westminster, Colorado; one granddaughter, Renee Lisa Kent, Commerce City, Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers, Roland, Clinton, and Raymond Webber.

Marc Alan Miller
Marc Alan Miller, son of Allan and Connie (Bittner) Miller, was born November 5, 1995 in Hays, Kansas and passed away August 19, 2017 at the age of 21.
Marc grew up with his family in Norton, Kansas, where he attended the local schools and graduated from Norton Community High School, class of 2014. During high school he competed in cross country, basketball, track and field, and one year of golf. He then attended three years at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.
Marc was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Norton. He loved to travel and enjoyed boating, swimming, and spending precious time with his family. He greatly enjoyed fine dining in establishments such as McDonalds and Burger Stand and was currently weaning himself off of his favorite drink, Diet Coke.
Survivors include: his parents, Allan and Connie Miller, Norton; his brother, Matthew Miller, Mission, Kansas; his maternal grandmother, Kathleen Bittner, Hays, Kansas; other relatives and many friends.
Marc was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Marcell and Oliva Miller, and his maternal grandfather, William Bittner.

SMITH CENTER – Trevor L. Rempe, age 26, passed away on Sunday August 20, 2017 in Portis, KS. He was born September 19, 1990 in Smith Center, KS to William and Stacey (Lefort) Rempe. He was a lineman with Rolling Hills Electric Company.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Louis H. and Ruby C. Rempe of Plainville, KS and Elenore G. Lefort of Stockton, KS.

Blanche Erbert
Blanche Erbert, Ellis, KS, left us to meet the Lord on August 6, 2017. She was born November 15, 1920, south of Ellis in Glencoe Township, Trego County, to Louis and Stephanie (Schuster) Locker.
She attended Silver Lake country school and was a 1938 graduate of Ellis High School.
United in marriage to Leonard Erbert at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the couple then moved to Wichita and employment with Cessna. Later, they were called home to manage the Erbert family farm 5 miles north of Ellis, where they remained. They celebrated 63 years of marriage and nine children.
Blanche was a retired Travenol employee. She was Home and School president at St. Mary’s for a number of years, parish choir member, later a Eucharistic Minister for the homebound. She also served as a 4-H sewing leader, and volunteer for ARC of Hays. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening and canning. She was especially fond of children and animals.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, David of Huntsville, AL; daughter, Joan Atchison of Kirwin, KS; two grandsons, Travis Atchison and John Atchison. She is survived by four daughters, Jeanette Guinn of Tulsa, OK, Judy Elman of Iola, WI, Jane Zook of Larned, KS and Jacqueline Murphy of Ellis, KS. Three sons, Mark of Tucson, AZ, Fredrick and Patrick of Wichita, KS. She delighted in her 28 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Survivors also include two sisters, Louise Halfman, Parsons, KS, Frances Butler of Escondido, CA; a brother, Arthur of Phoenix, AZ and a loving extended family of nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 10:00 A.M.
at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis, KS. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 6-8:00 P.M. with a combined Rosary and Parish Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. at the church.

Carol Marie Hotz
Carol Marie Hotz, Hays, Kansas, age 82, died Sunday, August 20, 2017, at The Willow House in Hays, Kansas. She was born July 16, 1935, on the family farm north east of Bogue, Kansas to Frank and Ellen (Lundberg) Holsman. She married Eugene D. Hotz on March 28,1959, in Hays, Kansas.
Carol was a homemaker. She also was a business teacher at FHSU for a few years. She was a graduate of Stockton High School and a member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. She received her Bachelors Degree in Business and Master Degree from Fort Hays State University, then completed her Doctorate in Education at Kansas State. Carol absolutely loved music. She sang in the FHSU Choir for a few years and in a quartet that performed in Hays and surrounding areas. She was avid lover of animals and supported many organization to help against animal cruelty.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene Hotz, of the home; one son, Steven Hotz, Liberty, MO; one daughter, Susan Kreutzer and husband, Roger, Hays, KS; three grandchildren, Hayden, Collyn, and Emily Kreutzer; four nephews and three nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Kenneth Holsman and one sister, Alpha Bondy.
Services are 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 24, 2017, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601. A graveside service will be at 1:30 P.M. Thursday at The Stockton Cemetery Stockton, Kansas.

Edwin J. Wasinger
Edwin J. Wasinger, age 84, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017 at the Kearny County Hospital in Lakin, Kansas. He was born on April 13, 1933 in Scott County, Kansas, the son of Wendelin J. & Beata Stremel Wasinger. A lifetime Scott County resident, he was a farmer and stockman.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, Kansas. He was also a US Army Veteran and was a member of Kiwanis International, Knights Of Columbus, Wheatland Electric Board Member for 25 years and A Scott Coop Board Member.
On February 7, 1959 he married Rosemary E. Dechant in Garden City, Kansas. She survives.

Sharlene Kay Wendler
Sharlene Kay Wendler was born March 6, 1942 in Wakeeney, Kansas. On August 18, 2017, she left this world to join her best friend and love of her life Gary Wendler.
Daughter of Darias and Della Luckey. She was raised in a loving home by Della and Swede Martin, along with Brother Terry Lee and Lana.
Sharlene was a graduate of Trego County High School Class of 1959. She loved school and was very active with all of her classmates. She showed enthusiastic team spirit, playing tennis and also as a cheerleader.
On January 7, 1961 she married her soul mate Gary Wendler. During their 38 years of love and happiness three children were born: Michelle, Chad, and Melissa.
Sharlene loved everything that involved her family. Her whole world revolved around her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
For a small town girl she traveled the world; Europe, Japan, several cruises, and many adventures in the USA. She was an avid hunter and fishermen. She cherished all the activities with her grandkids and great grandkids. Some of these special times included spending the day at the zoo, Disney World Amusement Parks, school activities, and recitals.
Sharlene was a loving stay at home mom while her children were in school, she took on so many tasks including leading the girls campfire troop, and if need be leading Chad’s Boy Scout troop. She then went to work in the Orthodontic field for over 20 years, she loved connecting with the kids and helping to give them their beautiful smiles. After retirement she never slowed down she became a jetsetter visiting her family in Pennsylvania, Utah, Colorado, and Kansas.
Loved ones Sharlene left behind are her children Michelle Wendler, Chad Wendler, and wife Nikki, Melissa Herdt and husband Alvin; grandchildren, Amanda, Jordyn and Lyndsi, Cody and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Brantley and Viviann; sister Lana Hammond and husband Ray; also many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Sharlene. She was grandma Sharlene to so many that we cannot list them all.
Sharlene has now reunited in heaven with her husband Gary Wendler; her mom, Della Martin; her dad Swede Martin; and Brother Terry Lee Martin.
Everyone Sharlene met she welcomed with an open heart and loving hug.
