Leon Allen Holmes

LaCrosse, Kansas – Leon Allen Holmes, age 57, died Thursday, June 15, 2017, at his home. He was born October 27,1959, in Wichita, Kansas to Glen L Holmes and Sharon L. (Propp). He was a floor hand worker on an oil field drilling rig and was an auto mechanic. He grew up in Wichita and Hays. He attended Hays High School and in his earlier years he was active with motor cross racing. Leon enjoyed working on his cars and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his mother, Sharon L. Englebright, Garden City, KS; his companion, Tracy Epke, of the home; two sisters, Tammy Younger and husband, Troy, Hays, KS; Teresa Holmes, Garden City, KS; and one niece, Tara Holmes, Manhattan, KS.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Services will be at 7:00 P.M. Monday, evening at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601. A private family inurnment will be at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays.

Dru D. Miller, 36, of Gorham, Kansas, died on Friday, June 16, 2017, at his home in Gorham.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the Gorham Senior Center in Gorham, Kansas. Burial will take place after the mass at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery of Gorham, Kansas. Vistation will be from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas.

Marcella Marie (Wasinger) Berens

Marcella Marie (Wasinger) Berens, 94, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the Villa Marie in Mulvane, Kansas.

Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 24, 2017 at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Russell. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Friday, June 23, 2017 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary. Vigil and Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Friday at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church. A Memorial has been established with the Russell V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.

Imogene ‘Jean’ Joan Miller

Imogene “Jean” Joan Miller, age 79, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the Greeley County Hospital in Tribune, Kansas.  She was born on September 1, 1937 in Great Bend, Kansas, the daughter of Conrad and Anna Katherine Woelk.

She was a member of the Tribune community most of her life.

On August 7, 1955 she was married to Harlan Miller at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tribune, Kansas. He survives.

Jean was known for her patience and her artistic talents in countless paintings, along with her abilities to be a wonderful seamstress.  She enjoyed playing bridge at the Melvin O Kuder Senior Center, and cooking many meals for Rotary meetings.

She is survived by: her loving husband, Harlan Miller, of Tribune, Kansas; three children, Ronald and Cindy Miller of Tribune, Kansas, Brian and Shelli Miller of Tribune, Kansas; Marsha and Kriss Young of Weskan, Kansas; ten grandchildren, Jessica Rogers of Lenexa, Kansas, Jayme Miller of Anadarko, Oklahoma, Jordan Crain of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, Andrew Miller of Tribune, Kansas, Jonathan Miller of Lawrence, Kansas, Michael John Miller of Manhattan, Kansas, Rebecca Miller of Lawrence, Kansas, Jason Young, Weskan, Kansas, Eric Young of Weskan, Kansas, Kellie Weeks of Manhattan, Kansas; one brother, John Woelk of Rozel, Kansas; many nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Juanita Smith, Virginia Smith, LeRoy Woelk, and Marjorie Peter.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 10:30 am MST at the Presbyterian Church in Tribune, Kansas.

Open calling hours will be from 5-8 MST Monday evening and from 10-8 pm MST  at Price and Sons Funeral Home of Tribune, Kansas.

Interment will be held at the Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune, Kansas.

Bernita Kinderkecht

Bernita (Knoll) Kinderknecht was born on May 5, 1929, in St. Peter, Kansas, the older of twins born to Carl and Mary (Denning) Knoll and died on June 17, 2017, in Hays, Kansas.

Bernita married Eugene Kinderknecht on November 19, 1951, in St. Peter, Kansas who preceded her in death on November 22, 1992. She is survived by six children, Eileen (Roger) Doherty, Denver; Linda (Duane) Stefan, Hays; Kenneth (Joyce) Kinderknecht, Collyer; Helen (Neal) Windholz, Gorham; Cynthia (Daniel) Cline, WaKeeney; and Pamela (Richard) Windholz, Hays. She was preceded in death by one son, Wayne, an infant daughter and son-in-law, John Cline.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Dwight Doherty, Eugene Doherty, Shewit Doherty, Jason (Jamie) Cline, Matthew (Jody) Cline, Shawn Stefan, Malea (Devin) Gilman, John Kinderknecht and Tony (Christy) Knouf. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Jaydon Doherty, Liliana Doherty, Aden Cline, Aleigh Cline, Colin Cline, Chase Cline, Paige Gilman, Elaina Gilman and Khloe Knouf.

She is also survived by one sister, Marcella Whitman, Wichita, Kansas, one brother, Alvin Knoll, Highlands Ranch, Colorado and one sister-in-law, Frances Knoll. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Evelina Knoll and Olivia Dinges, and her twin brother, Thomas Knoll.

Bernita was a homemaker most of her life. She was known for her cinnamon rolls (just perfect with a little farm fresh cream), homemade noodles (with eggs from her very own chickens), and homemade chicken noodle soup. She sewed school dresses for her daughters and granddaughter. She made quilts, wedding cakes, and crafts. A true farmer’s wife, she milked cows, hauled wheat, and raised chickens. She will be missed by her best friends Fido, her dog, and Miss Oreo, her cat. We love you Mom.

Visitation will be Monday, June 19 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. followed by a vigil and rosary at 7 p.m. at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney, Kansas.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 20 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Collyer, Kansas. Burial will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Ellis, Kansas. Lunch will follow at the VFW in Ellis, Kansas.

Stanley Carl Noller

Stanley Carl Noller, 70, of Russell, Kansas, died on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas.

Stanley was born on January 22, 1947, in Beloit, Kansas, the son of Vernon and Eva (Gallivan) Noller. He grew up in Esbon, Kansas, and graduated from Esbon High School and moved to Russell in 1974. He met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Sylvia Adele Dumler on November 30, 1974 in Russell. He worked as a custodian for U.S.D. #407 Ruppenthal Middle School. He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Russell. He enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs Football and loved watching his grandchildren participate in sporting events. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving family include his wife Sylvia of the home, sons Chris Noller and wife Shawna of Palco, Kansas and Brian Noller and fiancee’ Devanshi Madhvani of Chicago, Illinois, Bud Neil and wife Jennifer and family of Hays, Kansas; grandchildren Kayla and Blake Noller; brother Gary Noller (Kathy); sisters JoAnn Clarke (Don), Barbara Noller, Linda Worman, and Diane Guyett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Larry Noller and sisters Janice Allen and Verna Rhodes.

A memorial service to celebrate Stanley’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas, with Pastor Michael Eurit officiating. Cremation has been selected by the family and inurnment of the cremains will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Russell. Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Monday, June 19, 2017, at the mortuary with family present to greet guests from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Monday evening. Victor Linn Christians, 60, died in Hutchinson, Kansas on June 14, 2017. He was born on May 10, 1957 to Robert W. and Bernita D. (Cochran) Christians in Hays, Kansas.

Victor was a member of the MBLGC church of Hutchinson, Kansas.

Preceding him in death are his parents.

Survivors include his wife Julia Christians; three sons, Cole and Benjamin Christians, Wichita, KS and Samuel Christians, Hutchinson, KS; three brothers, Craig Christians, Derby, KS, Mitchell Christians, Salina, KS and Joel Christians, Wichita, KS; two grandchildren, Sofia and Oliver Christians.
