Fay was born on July 4, 1917 in Edwards County, Kansas to Thomas and Rosa Mae (Austin) Ansel. She was one of six children.
Fay grew up and attended school through the 9th grade in Trousdale, Kansas. On January 19, 1933, Fay married Cecil Harold Walker in Garden City, Kansas. To this union, one son Eugene (Gene) was born.
In 1949, the family moved to Wallace County from Grant County, Kansas. She was a member of the Weskan Bible Church, the UMW and the Weskan Garden Club. Some of her hobbies included gardening, sewing and fishing. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior in the fall of 1951 at an Evangelistic meeting.
Preceding Fay in death were her parents, her husband Cecil, two brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her son Gene Walker (Janet) of Weskan, KS, five grandchildren; Marcia Wireman (Charlie), Bryce Walker (Tracy), Leslie Stallard (Timothy), Stephanie Balman, Gregory Balman (Angela); thirteen great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Fay will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 10:00 AM MT at the Weskan Bible Church with Pastor Tim Cress officiating. Burial followed in the Weskan Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM MT at the church in Weskan.

Judith Rae (Peter) Berringer, of Frederick, Colorado, joined her heavenly family and Savior Jesus Christ on December 20, 2016.
Judy was born in Goodland, Kansas, on April 5, 1941, the daughter of Edwin and Jean (Hamlin) Peter. She was a graduate of Goodland High School. Judy attended the University of Northern Colorado (Colorado Teacher College) and graduated with a teaching degree. She was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority.
On December 23, 1962, she married William G. Berringer of Goodland, Kansas. On December 23, 2012, the couple celebrated their 50th anniversary. After college graduation in 1963, she and William began a five-year tour with the United States Air Force.
Judy loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandson. One could often find her at sporting events watching her grandchildren play one of the many sports that they all participated in. Traveling to visit with friends and taking the grandkids to Disneyland and Hawaii were a favorite past time. Judy was active in her Wednesday morning bible study. The Lake House at Lake McConaughy in Nebraska was the venue for many summer gatherings where she enjoyed time with family and friends.
She is survived by her sister Mary Lou Tracy, sister-in-law Judith McClure and her husband JB; sister-in-law Jan Berringer; brother-in-law Ernie Workman, all of Goodland, Kansas; children Robyn Eisenach and her husband Justin of Louisville, Colorado; Todd Berringer and his wife Angie of Erie, Colorado; Brett Berringer and his wife Heidi of Frederick, Colorado; eight grandchildren: Courtney Whipps and her husband Nick, great grandson Bennett of Casper, Wyoming; Matthew Eisenach and his wife Kelsey of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Ryan Eisenach and his wife Anne of Fort Collins, Colorado; Triston Berringer of Colorado Springs Colorado; Darby Berringer, and Kalyssa Berringer of Erie, Colorado; and Brayden Berringer and Hallie Berringer of Frederick, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her husband William G. Berringer, father Edwin Peter, mother Jean Dickey, father-in-law Warren Berringer, mother-in-law Lois Berringer, brother-in-law Warren Berringer, sister-in-law Diane Workman and nephew’s Mark McClure, Brook Berringer and great niece Tatum Lovgren.
Memorial services will be held Monday, January 2, 2017 at 10:30 AM MT, at the First United Methodist Church in Goodland, Kansas, with Pastor Lyn Linde officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.

Dolly Mae Irvin went to be with the Lord in the quiet morning hours of December 24, 2016.
Dolly was the daughter of Alonzo & Estella Clawson. She was raised with her two older brothers, Alonzo Jr. and Robert in Cedar Rapids, IA where she developed her active, outdoor lifestyle. She adored her older brothers and spent hours with them hunting and fishing along the crick near their home. She was an animal lover all her life and as a child collected pet snakes (a passion her brothers did not share). Later in life she raised dogs, and had pets ranging from raccoons to a tarantula spider. She attended and graduated from Cedar Rapids High School.
Dolly moved to Goodland, KS in 1949 where she met and married Robert Irvin. Together they raised four daughters, Terri Richardson (Terry) of Goodland, KS, Reva Bauman (Jerry) of Goodland, KS, Sonia Stallard (Charlie) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Lori Connorton (Terry) of Greenville, SC. Dolly worked at Clawson Electric shortly after moving to Goodland. She also worked alongside her husband on the family farm doing everything from driving semi-tractor trailers to transporting farm animals. Later in life she worked 5 years at Gibson’s and 17 years at Walmart, retiring only due to health reasons at the age of 84.
Dolly was known for her high energy and active lifestyle. She played softball when she was younger and even took surfing lessons at the age of 69 while on vacation in California and went zip lining in Jamaica when she was 79 years old. Her co-workers remarked about her fast paced walk and Energizer Bunny speed on the job.
She was passionate about her community serving as a Campfire/Bluebird leader; was a member of Goodland Rotary; and served as an Ambassador for the Chamber of Commerce. She was a volunteer with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Hospice and opened her home as a foster home to abused and abandoned dogs through the NW Kansas Animal Shelter.
Dolly’s love of God was deep and spanned her entire life. She was saved at the early age of 8 and spent a lifetime serving the Lord. She played the piano at her church and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a member of Calvary Gospel Church.
Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers. She is survived by her four children, four son-in-laws, seven grandchildren and their spouses, and nine great-grandchildren.
Dolly believed in living life to the fullest and passed away with no items remaining on her bucket list. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and community.
Funeral services will be held at Calvary Gospel Church on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 10:30 AM MT with Pastor Randy Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.

Logan resident, MaryDel Graves, passed away, Monday, December 26, 2016 at her home at the age of 81.
She was born April 27, 1935 in Nowata, Oklahoma, the daughter of Leonard & Augusta (Mock) Higgins.
She was united in marriage to George Graves on August 23, 1958 in Logan, Kansas. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include her 5 sons, Thomas W. of Logan, John of Castle Rock, CO, Daniel of Splendora, TX, Richard of Bel Aire, KS & William of Lexington, KY; her daughter, Anne Palen of Beloit, KS; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and 2 sisters, Virginia Baskett & Michaeleen Flores, both of Mesa, AZ.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2016 in the St. John’s Catholic Church in Logan, KS, with Father George Chalbhagam officiating. Cremation will follow mass, with inurnment in the Pleasant View Cemetery at a later date.
A Scriptural Wake Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 in the Logan Funeral Home, 102 E. Church Street, Logan, KS 67646, with the family receiving friends for visitation from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. that evening.
Mrs. Graves will lie in state from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Logan Funeral Home.

Walter J. StaabWalter James Staab, 89, Hays, died Friday, December 23, 2016 at Via Christi Village.
He was born November 13, 1927 in Catharine, Kansas the son of Jacob H. and Theresa (Gross) Staab. He graduated from St. Joseph Military Academy in 1945 and from Salt City Business College in Hutchinson, Kansas. He completed appraisal courses at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
On September 26, 1949 he married Alice M. Leikam in Severin, Kansas. To this union were born five children which included sons; Stanley, Douglas, and Kevin and daughters; Teresa and Deanne.
After college, Walter was a bookkeeper for various Hays businesses, he was a tax preparer, and he farmed nights and weekends. He was elected Clerk of the District Court in Ellis County from 1952 until 1957 and was elected Ellis County Clerk in 1966. Walter was appointed Ellis County Appraiser in 1970, a position he would hold until his retirement in 1990. He was an expert in land and oil appraisals, was an expert witness during trials, and was one of the first County Appraisers in Kansas. He was appointed to the State Board of Tax Appeals from 1974 until 1976.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the American Legion, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, and the third degree Knights of Columbus Council #1325. He was also a member of IAAO, the International Association of Assessing Officers for over 45 years, a senior member of ASA, the American Society of Appraisers, CKA, a Certified Kansas Appraiser, and was a Real Estate Broker in Kansas. He was a past president of the Kansas County Appraisers Association.
Walter enjoyed playing cards, visiting and talking politics, and fishing, but most of all he loved the land, his farm and cattle, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons; Doug Staab and wife Lisa of Holcomb, Kansas and Kevin Staab and wife Carol of Hays, two daughters; Terri Stanton and husband Loren of Prairie Village, Kansas and Deanne Wakefield and husband Bill of Wichita, a daughter-in-law Carol Staab of Denver, CO, thirteen grandchildren; Tony Stanton and wife Kristin, Cameron Stanton and wife Katie, Lucas Staab and wife Jessie, Chad Staab, Amanda Zernickow and husband Sean, Jade Patchett and husband Eric, Rylee Staab, Brent Staab and wife Angel, Wade Staab and wife Randi, Clayton Staab, Britta Mondi and husband Anthony, Raegan Quandt and husband Eric, and Kethlyn Staab, eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alice, his son Stan, and by siblings; Philomene Adler, Felicitas Staab, Anna Staab, Marcella Walter, and Norbert Staab.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Catharine. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 8:00 on Wednesday and from 8:30 am until 9:30 on Thursday, all at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine Street. A Knights of Columbus Council #1325 rosary will be at 6:30 pm followed by a vigil service at 7:00, both on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Former Goodland, Kansas resident Ebaristo Barrera, 83, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the Lee’s Summit Medical Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Ebaristo was born on February 17, 1933 in Lorraine, Texas, the son of Jose and Ambrosia (Tovar) Barrera. He was one of 13 children. He grew up in Lorraine, Texas where he attended grade school.
In 1949, Ebaristo married Aurora Garza in Lorraine. To this union, 7 children were born; Vidal, John, Alberto, Mary Jane, Linda, Ebaristo Jr., and Vera.
The family moved to Goodland in 1968, where Ebaristo worked as a carpenter. He enjoyed spending time with his family outdoors barbecuing, working on old cars and listening to music. He was a dedicated family man, avid dancer and continued his love of music in his later life.
Preceding Ebaristo in death were his parents, his wife Aurora in 1993, two brothers Elias and Joe, one sister Ramona Ramone, and one great grandson Caleb Clay Maximo Barrera.
He is survived by his children Vidal (Lupe) Barrera of Kansas City, MO, John (Yolanda) Barrera of Kansas City, MO, Alberto (Sylvia) Barrera of Kansas City, MO, Mary Jane Luna of Garden City, KS, Linda Barrera of Goodland, KS, Ebaristo Barrera Jr. of Kansas City, MO, and Vera Barrera of Burlington, CO. He is also survived by brothers and sisters; Evangelina Ramos of Snyder, TX, Ernesto Barrera, Richard Barrera, Pete Echavarrias, Maggie Stevens, Esther Barrera, Estella Bazua, Mary Sabarzo and Rosemary Ortiz, all of Phoenix, AZ, as well as 24 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ebaristo will be held on December 27, 2016 at 1:00 PM MT at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Goodland with Father Norbert Dlabal officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.

Robert Leslie Penrod Jr. age 55, of WaKeeney, KS passed away Monday, December 19, 2016 at Hays Medical Center. He was born February 24, 1961 in Herrin, IL to Robert and Nora (Scott) Penrod.
He had worked as a Master Press Man in commercial printing.
He is survived by two sons, Robert L. Penrod III of WaKeeney, KS and Sylas Penrod of Mt. Vernon, IL; three daughters, Christina Barnett of Grinnell, KS, Bonnie Penrod of Mt. Vernon and Myriah Penrod of Palco; two brothers, William Penrod and John Penrod both of Mt. Vernon; three sisters, Robin O’Hallron of Fairbanks, AL, Janet Penrod and Sarah Jo Collins both of Mt. Vernon as well as 8 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lori Collins.

Stephen Lee Lopez, age 57, of Hays, KS passed away Saturday, December 11, 2016 at Hays Medical Center. He was born January 6, 1959 in Trinidad, Colorado to Harold and Frances (Valdez) Lopez. He had worked as a truck driver.
He is survived by his partner, Maggie; a son Steven Lopez (Jessica) of Colorado; daughters, Toni Mendez and Stephanie Bernal both of Colorado; brothers, Harold Lopez of Colorado, Donald Lopez (Debra) of Hays, Jeff Lopez of Colorado; sisters, Shirley Torres, Cookie Cordova and Beverly Trujillo all of Colorado as well as 5 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Joseph Obholz, age 67, of Hays, Kansas passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in Hays. He was born January 8, 1949 in Hays, Kansas to Hilary and Teresa (Arnhold) Obholz. He graduated from Hays High in 1968 and married Barbara (Wooldridge) November 23, 1968 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Joseph retired from the City of Hays as the Utilities Director after 30 years of service. Shortly after his marriage to Barbara he joined the US Army serving from 1969 – 1971. During his military service, he served in Vietnam as a Platoon SGT. He was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church of Hays, the Hays American Legion serving as Commander for 3 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, listening to Motown music and dancing to polka music. He enjoyed his family time and he loved and hated his KC Royals.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Hays; a son, Joseph Obholz Jr. of Overland Park; four daughters, Tammy Slater (Clint) of Overland Park, Amy Becker (Brett) of Hays, Melisa Garrison of Hays, Susie Obholz and fiancé, Trevor Engel of Hays; a brother, John Obholz (Jody) of Hays; two sisters, Lenny Borgmann (Lonnie) of Arizona and Kristy Hinzman (David) of Hays and his grandchildren, Haley, Payton, Caleb, Dawson, Brennon, Braedon, Motsi, Karsyn, Maci, Jackson, Makayla and Miah.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hilary and a son-in-law, Michael Garrison.
Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church in Hays. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors courtesy of the Hays VFW Honor Guard Post 9076 and the American Legion Riders post 173.
Visitation will be Monday 4 PM – 8 PM and Tuesday 9 AM – 9:30 AM all at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.

Preston Allen Barnett, 28, died Dec. 19, 2016, at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita. Born March 7, 1988 at Great Bend, he was the son of Craig, Sr. and Betty Lou (Elson) Barnett. A Great Bend resident, Mr. Barnett was a caregiver for Pathways ResCare. He enjoyed fishing, video games, barbeques and being with his family.
Mr. Barnett was a member of River of Life Foursquare Gospel Church of Great Bend.
Survivors include two sons, Grant Barnett and Connor Barnett, both of Great Bend; one daughter, Natasha Barnett of Great Bend; significant other, Amber Greene; two sisters, Heather Crites and husband Justin of Great Bend, and Charley and husband Shannon Maughlin of Dighton; three brothers, Craig Barnett, Jr. and wife Trish and Cecil Barnett and wife Mary, both of Kingman, and Hunter Barnett of Great Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Ronny Joe Mayberry, 55, of Russell, Kansas passed away Monday, December 19, 2016 at his home in Russell.
Ronny was born June 19, 1961 in Borger, Texas, the son of Jerry and Alta (Golden) Mayberry. At a young age his family moved to Russell. He grew up and attended schools in Russell.
Ronny started working in the oil patch at a young age. He started out working on pulling units and eventually became a transport driver. He also was an over the road truck driver. He enjoyed the open road especially on his motorcycle. He enjoyed Harleys, cars and trucks, and working on them. When he was younger he enjoyed hunting. Later in life his love was his grandchildren and watching them grow up.
Surviving family include his daughter, Jewel Mayberry of Russell, Kansas; two sons, Jason Mayberry (Brittney) of Russell, Kansas and Ronny Austin Mayberry of Hays, Kansas; step parents, Kenny and Doris Blanke of Russell, Kansas; brothers, Jerry Terral Mayberry of Ceiling, Oklahoma, and Terral Mayberry of Borger, Texas, Haley Mayberry of Borger, Texas; step brothers, David Blanke and Gene Blanke; step sisters, Heidie Blanke and Star Blanke; and fourteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Rick Mayberry and Jerry Don Mayberry.
A Gathering Celebrating Ronny’s Life will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2016, from 6:00 PM to 7 PM at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell.
