Elaine A. Bittel, of Ellis, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Hays Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday, September 24, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday 5 PM – 7 PM with a combined parish vigil service and rosary at 7 PM all at the church.

Nellie L. Shearer

Nellie L. Shearer, 77, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Norton County Hospital, Norton, KS.

She was born August 4, 1939 on the Gill family farmstead in Graham County, KS, the daughter of Vernon B. and Alberta F. (Bauguess) Gill. On November 27, 1955 she married Dean Shearer in Norton, KS.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bonnell Gill.

She is survived by her husband Dean of Norton, KS; two daughters, Dalene Juenemann and husband Jerry of Olathe, KS, Verla Britton of Louisiana; one son, Doug Shearer and wife Monnie of Hays, KS; one brother, Calvin Gill and wife Anise of Norton, KS; one sister, Viola Belden and husband Wayne of Norton, KS; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Services are pending.

Memorial Donations may be given in her name and sent in care of the funeral chapel.

Kimberly Ann Niernberger

She was born January 4, 1968 in Hays, Kansas to Jerry and Cindy (Kisner) Karlin. She graduated from Thomas More Prep-Marian High School in 1986. On November 6, 1987 she married Darren Niernberger in Hays, Kansas.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, shopping, photography and spending time with friends and family, especially her granddaughter Kinley. She was a member of High Plains Baptist Church in Hays.

She is survived by her husband, Darren Niernberger of Hays; her parents, Jerry and Cindy Karlin of Hays; her children, Justin Niernberger and wife Kortney and their daughter Kinley all of Hays, Kelsey Niernberger of San Diego and Kyler Niernberger of Hays; a brother, Kevin Karlin and wife Marti of Olathe; a sister, Kelly Wasinger and husband Keith of Olathe; her in-laws, Nick and Pauletta Niernberger of Hays, Crystal Boxberger and husband Jeff of Great Bend, Nikki Engel and husband Eric of Hays, April Niernberger of San Diego and Lindsay Prockish and husband Brent of Overland Park as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Fred and Angela Kisner and Celestin and Josephine Karlin.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday, September 17, 2016 at North Oak Community Church, 3000 Oak Street, Hays. Burial will follow at Fort Hays Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday 5 PM – 8 PM at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601 and Saturday 9 AM until service time at the church.

Tracy Lynn (Baird) Legleiter

Screen Shot 2016-09-16 at 8.57.43 AMTracy Lynn (Baird) Legleiter, 56, Hays, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at her home.

She was born October 11, 1959 in Russell, Kansas the daughter of Harold G. and Alice Faye (Meitler) Baird.  She graduated from Hays High School and attended Fort Hays State University.  On April 19, 1980 she married Roger B. Legleiter in Hays.  Tracy was a homemaker and for many years was a youth coordinator at Centennial Lanes.  She was inducted into the USBC Bowling Hall of Fame.  She volunteered her time and talent in many ways and dedicated her life to helping others, and she was loved by so many.  She enjoyed participating in and leading church activities, and she enjoyed leading rosaries before mass, and being a CYO leader. She was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, the church Bible Study Group and the Ladies Guild.  She loved driving around in her Camaro, riding four wheelers, going to Chiefs games and the casino, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Roger B. Legleiter of Hays, a son Tyler Legleiter of Hays, a daughter Sabree Larsen and husband Dustin of Hays, a brother Jerry Baird and wife Linda of Pratt, and two grandchildren; Gabriel and Noah Larsen of Hays.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers; Larry and Mark Baird.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, 2901 E. 13th.  Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 pm on Friday at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine St., and from 9:00 am until service time on Saturday at the church.  A parish vigil service will be at 6:30 pm followed by a St. Nicholas Bible Study Group rosary at 7:00, all on Friday at the funeral home.

Gary ‘Chub’ Lynn Jamison

Gary “Chub” Lynn Jamison, age 59, of Garnett (formerly of Quinter), passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at his residence in Garnett. He was born December 7, 1956 in Quinter, to William Richard and Anna Lucille (Garber) Jamison.

Gary grew up and always helped out on the family dairy farm. He enjoyed playing basketball and showing others tricks he learned to do with the ball. He was known for crafting latch hook rugs, having done well over a hundred in his lifetime. One thing many friends and family felt was remarkable about Gary was his ability to recall most anyone’s anniversary or birthday. He always looked forward to his birthday parties and especially enjoyed his pizza and Pepsi. Gary’s kind heart and ability to make anyone a friend will be missed by many.

Survivors include his two brothers, Calvin (Ethel) Jamison of Quinter, and Galen of Quinter; his sister, Janet (Galen) Edgecomb of Garnett; his brother-in-law, Leon (Loriene) Hirt of Westphalia; and his sister-in-law, Donna (Marlin) Flory of Modesta. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Maxine Jamison and Anna Mae Hirt; brother, Charles Jamison; and sister-in-law, Brenda Jamison.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Sunday, September 18, 2016 at the Quinter Grade School Gymnasium. Burial will be at the Big Creek Cemetery, southeast of Quinter.

Visitation will be Saturday, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Old German Baptist Church, at the intersection of X and 76 Roads, southeast of Quinter.

The family requests and suggests any gifts or contributions of love, instead of flowers, be given to the Gove County Medical Center, Long Term Care Facility or Hospice for the loving care given to Gary.

Emma Zerr

Zerr, Emma Pic 1Emma Zerr, age 95, of Quinter, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Gove County Medical Center, Quinter. She was born in Gove County, on January 6, 1921, to Valentine and Anna (Zimmerman) Zerr.

Emma was was united in marriage to Rudolph C. Zerr, on August 25, 1941, in Park, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 1991. She was a loving homemaker and housewife.

Survivors include three sons, Delbert (Judy) Zerr of Manhattan, Delmer (Carrie) Zerr of Wellington, and Herman (Jann) Zerr of Grainfield; two daughters, Mary Lou Weber of Loveland, Colorado, and Loretta (Daniel) Zordel of Hays; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Tony Wildeman of Ness City; and one sister, Clara Guest of Oregon. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Erwin Zerr; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Weber and Isaac Zerr; six brothers; and six sisters.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 17, 2016 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Grainfield. Burial will be in the Grainfield Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 at the St. Agnes Religious Education Center, Grainfield. A parish vigil will follow at 7:00.

Wanda Leanore Fulwider

Wanda Leanore Fulwider, 95, of Brewster, died Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Citizens Medical Center, Colby, KS. She was born May 25, 1921, in Brewster, KS, to Roy and Mabel (Lloyd) Moore. Wanda married Lem Fulwider Jr on December 25, 1947. She was a librarian and reading teacher at USD #314. Wanda enjoyed reading, playing the piano and doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge and a charter member of Beta Federated Women’s Club.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lem; sister Donna Humes and Brother Willard Moore.

She is survived by her children, LeAnne (Howard) Carney, Brewster and Lynn (Kathy) Fulwider, Brewster; grandchildren, Brad (Micki) Ensign, Goodland, Angela (Shane) Moore, Winona, Chris (Sky) Fulwider, Goodland, Tara (Chris) Pope, Hoxie and Amber (Landon) Nix, Tribune and 10 great grandchildren, Dawson, Emmi and Kyan Ensign, Dane & Josie Moore, Paige, Ana and Lincoln Fulwider and Corbin and Chloe Pope.

The funeral service is 10:00 a.m. CST Friday, September, 16, 2016 at the Brewster United Methodist Church with the visitation from 9:00 a.m. CST until the service.
