Lois Floydine Fredrickson

Lois Floydine Fredrickson was born Nov. 16, 1928 in Oberlin to Floyd and Lavina Mae (Van Pelt) Fredrickson.

She passed away Aug. 19, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society of Decatur County in Oberlin at the age of 90.

Lois attended school in Oberlin, graduating from Decatur Community High School with the class of 1948.

On Sept. 5, 1948, Lois was united in marriage to Donald Fredrickson in Oberlin, where they made their home. To this union two children were born; they were also blessed with four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Don and Lois owned and operated Don’s Super Market for 38 years. Lois worked along side of Don for many years. She was the bookkeeper but also filled in wherever needed.

Lois was a member of the United Church of Oberlin, United Church Women, was a charter member of the Zeta Nu Club, and the Order of Eastern Star. She was an avid sports fan, enjoying her grandchildren’s activities and KU basketball. She enjoyed following her children and grandchildren in their school activities. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the highlight of her life.

Lois is survived by her children and their spouses: Kristi and Gene Gallentine of Clayton and Brad and Gayle Fredrickson of Kansas City; four grandchildren: Jason and Leia Gallentine, Kelsey and Caleb Peters, Cole and Angie Fredrickson and Carissa and William Sanders; 10 great-grandchildren: Kiera and Clayton Gallentine, Macie and Brannen Peters, Grace, Gable, Julia, and Gavin Fredrickson, Metabel and Clara Sanders, and brother-in-law, Doyle Fredrickson, along with other relatives.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws; sisters: Capitola (Bill) Warren, Norene (Howard) Plummer, Patty (Lemoin) Landau, Doris (Charles Watson and Virgil) McKenzie; brothers-in-law, Robert (Lucille) Fredrickson, Ralph (Helen) Fredrickson and sisters-in-law, June (Darren) Schneider, and Joan Fredrickson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019 at Pauls Funeral Home, Oberlin. Burial will follow at Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2019 at the funeral home. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Harriet L. Ison

Harriet L. Ison, age 81, of Grove, Ok passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Grand Lake Villa.

Harriet was born on May 2, 1938 in Oklahoma City, OK where she grew up and graduated from Northeast High School in 1956.

She went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree from what was formerly Oklahoma Central University in Edmond, OK.
On August 12, 1962 Harriet married the loved of her life, David Ison in Oklahoma City, OK. The couple made their home in Hays, where Harriet was an Administrative Assistant at Fort Hays State University for many years.

In 1999, Harriet moved to Grove where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed Bible studies, volunteering at church, needle work, traveling and reading.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother.

Harriet is survived by: daughter, Leslie Dillon and husband, Ross of Cheyenne, WY, son, Lee Ison of Longmont, CO and 2 grandchildren, Matthew Dillon and wife, Jen and Chris Dillon and wife, Christina, 2 great grandchildren, Brooke & Aidan Dillon.

Memorial Services will be held 9:30am Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church. Pastor Randy Hamill to officiate.

Lee Francis Schneller

Lee Francis Schneller, 81, Overland Park, KS passed away of natural cases on Monday, August 5th, surrounded by family at his home. Services were Aug. 10 in Kansas City. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donating to the Sister Servants of Mary, 800 N 18th Street, Kansas City, KS 66102.

Lee was born Sept. 2, 1937 in Hays, KS to Frank and Margret (Phillips) Schneller. He was the oldest of three boys. He graduated from the St. Joseph Military Academy in Hays, KS in 1955, and then went on to serve in the United States Army where he worked at the Pentagon. He was a Certified Hearing Audiologist for 36 years. Always an entrepreneur, he was involved in numerous business endeavors for over 40 years. Lee was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Finney county Chamber of Commerce, and Lions Club. He was active in the Catholic Church. Lee always had a passion for airplanes and was a private pilot. He enjoyed his hobbies which included his love of cycling, water-skiing, and boating.

Lee will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father. He was kind and generous member of the community and trying his best to help those in need. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Don Schneller. Lee is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 51 years, Lina, brother Dave (Vicki), his daughter and her husband, Christina and Brian, sons Michael (Karen), John, and Stephen (Kristin) and twelve grandchildren.

Ida Ann John

Ida Ann John, 78, passed away Friday August 16, 2019, in Hoisington. She was born August 24, 1940, in Leibenthal the daughter of Marcus and Magdelina (Herrman) Depperschmidt. She was united in marriage to Donald John on August 29, 1958, in Roseville, Cal. He passed away June 18, 2010.

Ida has been a resident of California for the last 62 years coming from Rush Center. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed bowling and playing bingo. She loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include one son Daniel John of Rio Linda, Calif. two daughters, Patricia Shell and husband Tony of Placerville Calif. and Teresa John of Grass Valley Calif., five brothers Dennis, Lee, Gerald, Charles and LaVern Depperschmidt and four sisters Rosie Korm, Joanne Fincher, Alice Stetler and Patricia Hasenfratz; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in California. Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home is helping with arrangements.

Seth Lance Hillegeist

Seth Lance Hillegeist, 23, passed away August 18, 2019 at his home in Great Bend. He was born January 31, 1996 at Liberal to Brett and Rachelle (Wilson) Hillegeist.

Coming from Lincoln in 2002, Seth was a mental health development disability technician at Larned State Hospital. He loved fishing, barbecues, technology, listening to music, and football. He had a strong desire to love and be loved. He enjoyed spending time with his friends but he especially loved to spend time with his daughter.

Survivors include, his parents, Brett Hillegeist and stepmother Heather of Lincoln and Rachelle Hillegeist of Great Bend; his daughter, Alice Grace Hillegeist and her mother, Jenna Collins of Ellinwood; a brother, Nathan Hillegeist and wife Alexis Mattheyer of Hoisington; two sisters, Ashley Hillegeist of Great Bend and fiancé Dillon Mitchell of Hays and Kaylin Hillegeist of Hays and fiancé Nick Petz of Great Bend; and grandparents, Richard and Michelle Wilson of Liberal and Karen Jeffers of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lonnie Hillegeist and Kay A. Hanna.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Mike Joiner presiding.

Memorials are suggested to the Seth Hillegeist Funeral Expense Fund or Alice Grace Hillegeist Education Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.

Joyce Ann Ridgley

Joyce Ann Ridgley, 77, of Russell, Kansas, died on Sunday, August 18, 2019, at her home in Russell.

Private services will be held at a later date. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.

Donna Lee Hull

Donna Lee Hull, age 87, of Hill City, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2019, at Dawson Place, Hill City.

Private family services will be at a later date. Cremation was chosen.

Roy Lynn Jensen

Roy Lynn Jensen, 66, of McCracken Kansas passed away Friday morning August 16, 2019 at his daughter’s home in Hays, Kansas surrounded by his family.  He was born January 16, 1953 in Hays, KS to Arthur Hans Jensen Sr. and Rita Mae (Hauser) Jensen.

Roy is survived by his children: Lucas Hans Jensen (Andrea Werth Jensen), Jesse Roy Jensen and Catherine Mae Jensen; two brothers : Arthur Jensen and Chris Jensen; two sisters: Maren Moody and Nancy Parmer; and two grandchildren : Hailey RaeAnne Jensen and Jensen Lewis Glendening.  He was preceded in death by his niece Jacey Jensen and his parents.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hays.  Inurnment will follow in the Mount Allen Cemetery. 

Memorial visitation will be Friday, August 23, 2019 from 5 PM – 8 PM with a combined rosary and parish vigil service at 7 PM.  Saturday visitation will be 9 AM – 9:30 AM at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine Hays, KS.

Christopher Scott Richard

Christopher Scott Richard, loving son of Floyd and Kathryn “Kathy” (Colson) Richard, was born September 4, 1995, in Hays, Kansas, and passed away at his home in Norton, Kansas, on August 14, 2019, at the age of 23.

Christopher grew up in Norton, where he attended the schools and graduated from the Norton Community High School with the class of 2014. Christopher attended Fort Hays University where his interest was in mechanical engineering and then he studied graphic design at Goodland Vo-Tech. In 2012, he earned the title of Eagle Scout with his project of building handicap accessible picnic tables at the picnic shelters in Norton.

Christopher was a member of the First Church of God in Norton, and a member of the Nebraska Sled Hockey team. He enjoyed playing his guitar and video games and shooting archery. He greatly treasured his time with his family shooting guns and hunting with his dad and riding the four-wheeler. Special times were spent playing games with his nieces and nephews and taking them for rides on his power chair. Christopher was a very caring person who always put others before himself.

Survivors include: his parents, Floyd and Kathryn “Kathy” Richard, Norton; three sisters and their husbands, Jennifer and Eddie Emerson, Springfield, Missouri; Dianne and Jason Davis, Norton; Amie and Brock Scott, Norton; six nieces and seven nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Christopher is rejoicing in heaven with his maternal grandparents, Leamon and Edna Colson, his paternal grandparents, Alfred and Jane Richard, one uncle, Charles “Chuck” Colson and five babies who were too beautiful for this earth.

Sheila Dawn Ritter

Sheila Dawn Ritter was born March 6, 1968 in McCook, NE to Loyal and Lynda (Martin) Springer. She passed away suddenly on August 15, 2019 at her home at the age of 51.

Sheila attended Beaver Valley High School and graduated in 1986. She married Michael Ritter on April 9, 1994 in Selden, KS. Sheila worked as a Special Education Para for Golden Plains Elementary; she loved helping all the student at the grade school. She enjoyed dancing and singing around the house and loved her collection of Berry Hill Bears. Sheila was very proud of her yard and always wanted it to look perfect. One thing she despised was any type of bird. She never went anywhere without her Yeti cup and Crystal Light drink.

Sheila was a loving wife and mother and dedicated her life to her family and friends. She was supportive in all the activities her children participated in and was very proud of her children and everything they have accomplished. Sheila was close with her mother, checking on her often and talking with her many times a day. She loved her summers and holidays with her grandson, Rostin and always wanted him to have the best time. Sheila was loved by her nieces and nephews and took a lot of interest in their lives.

She was preceded in death by her father, Loyal Springer; aunt, Dorothy Burroughs; uncles, Lyle Springer and Marvin Springer; father-in-law, Cletus Ritter; sister-in-law, Patricia Richmond and her grandparents.

Richard J. Fischli Jr.

Logan resident Richard J. Fischli Jr. passed away August 18, 2019 at the Logan Manor Nursing Home in Logan, KS at the age of 94. He was born June 15, 1925 in Speed, KS, the son of Richard & Mary (Kinter) Fischli.

He is survived by nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 22 at 10:30 a.m. in the Logan United Methodist Church with Pastors Ted Stapleton & Troy Buss officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday & noon to 9:00 Wednesday at the Logan Funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Logan Manor.
