Wayne Murrey Pierson, 81, passed away on June 7, 2016. He was born in Wenatchee, Washington on October 21, 1934 to Glen and Juanita Pierson.
Wayne graduated from Jewell High School, Jewell, KS in 1952. He served in the Korean War as a corpsman and was in the Navy for seven years. After returning, he spent several years as a truck driver.
For many years, he was a volunteer at the Sternberg Museum in Hays, KS, which he enjoyed very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Waldo Pierson and Richard Pierson. Survivors include: sons, Micheal (Kristi) Pierson of Derby, KS and Scott Pierson of Osbourne, KS; daughter, Angie (Tim) Becker of Salina, KS; grandchildren, Kaleigh (Dan) Kurowski of Greenwood, MO and Keaton Becker of Salina, KS.

Virginia Alma Delaney Nuzum died on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Phillips County Retirement Home in Phillipsburg, KS. She was 95 years old. Virginia was born on March 15, 1921 in Rooks County near Woodston, KS to Eber Louis & Alma Scott Stultz.
Virginia graduated from 12th grade. She married Richard Delaney and to this marriage were born 5 children. Several years after her husband, Richard, died, she met and married Oliver Nuzum.
During Virginia’s life time, she was a Professional Clown, a CNA at Parkview Care Center along with being a homemaker.
Virginia is survived by children: John Delaney of Phillipsburg, KS; David Delaney of Osborne, KS; Barbara Iman of Elkhart, KS; Donna Leitner of Modesto, CA; Robert Delaney of Louisville, KY: 27 Grandchildren; 47 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-great Grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Richard Delaney & Oliver Nuzum: 2 great grandchildren.

Wichita, Kansas – Bradley Evan Yost, age 48, died Monday, June 13, 2016, in Wichita. He was born August 26,1967, in Santa Maria, CA to Richard and Carolyn (Brungardt) Yost.
He was 1985 graduate of Gorham High School and attended Fort Hays Sate University. He received his LPN Degree from Barton County Community College. He was a US Army veteran, served in the military as a medical specialist from 1990 until he was honorably discharged in 1996.
He married Carrie (Flax) in 2001 and they later divorced.
Brad’s passion was caring for the elderly in assisted living and nursing home facilities. He was a member of the catholic church and also enjoyed cooking, gardening and the outdoors.
Survivors include two sons, Chandler Yost and Dakota Yost, both of Plainville, KS; his father Richard Yost and wife, Joanne, Hays KS; two brothers Jeff Yost, Hays, KS; Greg Yost and wife, Candace, Hays, KS; one sister, Niki Rohr and husband, Scott, Gardner, KS; three nephews, Braden Dreiling, Bryson Rohr, Preston Rohr; four nieces, Savannah Yost, Kassidi Yost, Shyanne Yost, Jaden Rohr; step-father, Ed Garrison, Salina, KS; three step-sisters, Debbie Trevett and son, Tucker Trevett, both of Wichita, KS; Kim Crough and daughter, Kristonna Kramer and son, Konner Kramer, all of Salina, KS; Jodi Steltz and daughter, Meghan Moland (Andrew) and son, Logan, all of Hays, KS.
He was proceeded in death by his mother, Carolyn (Brungardt) Garrison; grandparents, Alois and Florence Yost; Nick and Helen Brungardt.
Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, June 18, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Gorham, Kansas. Inurnment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Gorham, Kansas with military honors by the Russell V.F.W. Post No. 6240.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, at Cline’s Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, KS 67601 and from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M. Saturday, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Gorham, Kansas.
A vigil service and rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. Friday, at Cline’s Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, KS.

Hulda Marie Dye, 93 , passed away on June 13, 2016 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. She was born on March 6, 1923 in Bazine, Kansas the daughter of Albert and Margaret (Friebus) Tittel.
She was a Homemaker and a member of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and Ladies Aide, Ness City. She married LeRoy Dye on Sunday, May 11th, 1947 in Bazine, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1997.
Survivors include sons, Jerry Dye, Ness City and Jimmy Dye, Pawnee Rock; daughters, Judy and her husband, Richard Boeckman and Janis Dye, Ness City; three grandchildren, Tammy and her husband, Jody Birkholz, Matthew and his wife, Kelly Boeckman, and Rachel and her husband Wade Myslivy; five great-grandchildren, Baily and Michaela Birkholz, Willa Mysliva, and Ian and Cora Boeckman; sister, Emma Jones, Larned; and sister-in-law Lillian Tittel, Scott City. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; brothers, Ben and his wife Hilda Tittel and Elmer Tittel.

Peggy Jo (Kirwan) Dinkel, 82, was born August 2, 1933 to Philip J. and Esther K. Kirwan, Jr. in Glenwood Springs, Colorado where at one time her Grandfather served as Mayor and her Uncle owned the town’s photography studio. She grew up in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Denver, Colorado. Peggy graduated from Cathedral High School in Denver in 1951. Soon after her family relocated to Amman, Jordan where her father served as a water attorney for the U.S. State Department. While there, Peggy attended American University in Beirut, Lebanon for two years before returning to Denver, where she met and married Kenneth J. Dinkel in 1956. They were married for 56 years until his passing in 2013.
While raising her five children, Peggy was active in the Democratic Party pursuing her interest in politics including working at the Colorado State Capitol. Her career path followed interesting directions, including working in the construction and banking industries. Peggy’s real love was writing. She had an incredible passion for poetry, for which she pursued exuberantly. Peggy is a published poet, strongly supported by her writer’s group, Voices of Women, with whom she collaborated with for many years until her passing.
Peggy loved reading, and greatly enjoyed traveling, especially to Ireland where she vigorously explored her Celtic heritage, meeting distant relatives and exploring her family’s homeland. Hers was a life well-lived, filled with joy and happiness, punctuated by time spent with her beloved family and all her cherished friends.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, and her siblings Philip and Jole. She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Laura Arundel (Jeff-deceased), Tina Bishop (Bob), Julia Dybdahl, Joe Dinkel, and Vanessa Caniff (Thomas); her grandchildren, Erin, Briant, Emily, Taylor and Ian; and many sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Peggy will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 6:00PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, Colorado. A with a Vigil Service with a Recitation of the Rosary will follow at 7:00PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 9:30AM at St. Jude Catholic Church 9405 W. Florida Ave., Lakewood, Colorado.

Dr. Norman “Joey” Dinges, age 76, died May 28, 2016 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Broomfield, CO.
He was born August 28, 1939, in Hays, Kansas, to Nick and Julie Anne Smith Dinges. Doctor Dinges was a Professor of psychology and held various positions at the University of Alaska Anchorage, Oregon Health Sciences University, Portland State University, University of Hawaii, East West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, Battelle Human Affairs Research Center in Seattle, Washington and Colorado State University. His field of expertise was in American Indian Cultural Studies.
He is survived by his brother William Dinges, Broomfield, CO.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Adrian “Bud” Dinges, Howard Dinges, Leroy “Butch” Dinges, and two sisters, Dorothy Burkhart and Norma Jean Harris. No services will be held.

Elva attended school at Codell and graduated from Plainville High School. She attended Fort Hays State University. She moved to Garden City in 1972 to raise her three daughters and worked at St Catherine Hospital and Gibson’s. In the 70’s she began working for the Salyer family at the Red Baron, Wheatlands Café & becoming the Assistant Manager at the Grain Bin. In the 90’s she moved to San Diego and worked with disabled adults in life skills. She later moved to Colorado and had moved to Hartsel this year. She enjoyed flower gardening, her pets, video games, watching the Denver Broncos and any kind of crafts. She was preceded in death by her Parents, 2 Sons, 1 Grandson- Albert Martinez, Jr., 5 Great-Grandchildren & Brother-In-Law Chuck Reading.

Lori Beth Newell, age 52, of Ellis passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, Kansas. She was born November 9, 1963 in Ness City, Kansas to James and Donna (Tryon) Clouston. She was a 1982 graduate of Ness City High School. She married Richard Eugene Newell on July 20, 1996 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis, Kansas.
Lori had worked as a CNA in LaCrosse and Hays nursing facilities and she was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis. She enjoyed fishing, latch hook, spending time on the golf course with Rich, traveling to see family, visiting zoos, she was an avid cat lover and also enjoyed dancing which is where she met Richard at the Fanchon Ballroom in Hays, Kansas.
She is survived by her husband, Richard of Ellis, her father, James Clouston of Meriden, Kansas; two brothers, Ross Clouston of Meriden, Kansas and Patrick Clouston of ArkCity, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Donna (Tryon) Clouston.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis. Interment will be 11:00 AM Thursday in Damar, Kansas at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday 6 PM – 8 PM with a combined vigil and rosary service at 7 PM all at the church. Wednesday visitation will be 9:30 AM until service time also at the church.
