She was born on June 5, 1917 in Scott City, Kansas, the daughter of Grover Otis and Daisy Belle Ryan Coker. A lifetime resident of Scott City, Kansas, she was a Wife, Mother, Church Secretary, and Church Organist.

On March 31, 1929 she was baptized accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior at the First Christian Church in Scott City, Kansas.

On October 26, 1943 she married Arthur C. Cox in Scott City, Kansas. He passed away on October 16, 2001 in Scott City, Kansas.

Survivors include her Three Sons – David Cox of Wichita, Kansas, Donald & Glenda Cox of Amarillo Texas, Paul & Debbie Cox of Ogden, Utah, Five Grandchildren and Seven Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, One Brother – Rex Coker, One Sister – Lucille Shaw and One Daughter in Law – Janice Cox.

Funeral Services will be held at Price & Sons Funeral Home of Scott City, Kansas at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015 with Steve Payne presiding.

Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church % Price & Sons Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.

Delma Grace Bondurant Stenzel

3293849_wlppDelma Grace Bondurant Stenzel, 94, passed away August 30, 2015, at Cedar Village Long Term Care, Ness City, Kansas. A life-long Ness County resident, she was born April 10, 1921 in Highpoint Township in rural Ness County, where she lived with her parents Vernon Frances Bondurant and Vellah Irene Morphew Bondurant, until graduating from Bazine High School in 1938.

Delma married her high school sweetheart, Vernon Lawrence Stenzel, on August 7, 1941 in her family home. Her uncle, Reverend Henry Bondurant officiated, with Ralph Stenzel as best man, and sister Vella Bondurant Hunt as matron of honor. He survives.

Vernon and Delma farmed for many years in Ness County. They initially rented a farmhouse half-way between Ness City and Bazine until 1950 when they finished their new home in Ness. They raised four children, all of whom survive: Karen Brown of Long Beach, Ca; Bonnie Legg (Joseph) of Niantic, Ct; Rick Stenzel (Deb) of Ness City, and Patti Pfannenstiel (Tim), of Salina, Ks.

Delma was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. With the guidance of the Ness County Extension, she developed sewing, cooking, and canning skills. She was a member of the Arlington bowling team. As a member of the Ness City Methodist church, she sang in the church choir, joined the Lydia circle, and volunteered in the Thrift Shop. Eventually she and Vernon wintered in Texas where they enjoyed fishing, cards, crafts, and fish fries with many relatives and new friends. After Labor Day they often pulled the RV to Wisconsin and Michigan for more fishing.

In addition to their four children, they were blessed with nine grandchildren: Steven Brown, Stephanie Kenny, Kirsten Aghen, Jeffrey Legg, Elizabeth Maes, Andrew Stenzel, James Stenzel, Dusty Pfannenstiel, Josh Pfannenstiel, and 22 great grandchildren: Matthew & Owen Brown, Daniel & Michael Kenny, Skylar, Jonah, & Brooklyn Aghen, Ethan, Braelyn, & Gabriella Legg, Joseph, Rebecca, Jacob, & Caleb Maes, Nathaniel Dace, Hunter, Preston & Gracie Stenzel, Brody Stenzel, Margaret Pfannenstiel, & Amelia & Hudson Pfannenstiel.

Delma was preceded by her parents and four siblings, Vella Hunt, Merle Bondurant, Howard Bondurant, & Cecil Bondurant, as well as many other friends and relatives.

While attending Bazine High School (class of 1938) she sang in musical performances and various musical groups, & played basketball. Her “epitaph” in the Senior Yearbook reads, “Delma is in Heaven, but singing no song, St. Peter wouldn’t let her take Vernon along.” She will be dearly missed by Vernon and her family.

Viewing will be Monday, August 31, 1:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 1, 9:00 A.M. – 9:00 P.M., and Wednesday, September 2, 9:00 A.M. – 9:00 P.M. with calling hours Wednesday, 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home.
Funeral is on Thursday, September 3 at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church, Ness City.

Burial in Ness City Cemetery.

Glenda M. Koch

She is survived by her sons, Johnny and Sharon Koch, Jim and Jerri Koch, and Jack and Kim Koch and her sister Jenetta Filbert.

Friends may call on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 from 1:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.

The funeral service will be on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Bazine Cemetery.

James A. Shaeffer, 87 of Collyer passed away Monday, Sept. 7, 2015.

Paul D. LaRue

Paul D. LaRue, 81, Hays, died Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the Hays Good Samaritan Society.

He was born March 22, 1934 in Hays the son of Elmer and Luretta (Hixson) LaRue. He graduated from Hays High School in 1952. On July 12, 1953 he married Audrey Nulton in Hays.

Paul LaRue

He was an electric service lineman for Midwest Energy until his retirement. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was a Deacon in the church for many years. He was also a member of IBEW – Unit 12 from 1959 until present and was president of the union for 31 years. He was a volunteer at the Community Assistance Center, he and Audrey helped deliver Meals on Wheels, was an avid bowler and fisherman, and loved walking and working in his yard and shop.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Audrey, of the home in Hays, a son Doug LaRue and wife Shelly of Colorado Springs, CO, two daughters Becky Finn and husband Randy of Ulysses and Cindy Wells and husband Jeff of Junction City, KS, a brother Dwight LaRue of Benicia, CA, a sister Sharon Walker of Augusta, KS, six grandchildren Ismail Bouziane, Chad LaRue, Jeremy LaRue and wife Kendra, Matthew Wells and wife Melissa, Molly Wells, and Tanner LaRue and wife Jen, a great granddaughter Autumn LaRue, a daughter in law Lois LaRue of Hays, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son David LaRue, two sisters Marguarite Sandelin and Shirley Esslinger, and a sister in law Corki LaRue.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church, 2900 Hall Street, Hays. Inurnment will follow in the Ft. Hays Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time on Saturday at the church.

Dorrine ‘Dolly’ Stell (Hrabe) Dix

Dorrine “Dolly” Stell (Hrabe) Dix passed away Thursday morning, September 3, 2015 at the Solomon Valley Manor in Stockton, Kansas at the age of 81. She was born on April 20, 1934 to the late Frank and Laura (Koupsa) Hrabe on the family farm in Twin Mounds Township of Rooks County, Kansas.

Dolly attended rural school and graduated from Codell High School with the class of 1951. She was united in marriage to T. Wayne Sutton, they later divorced. She was then united in marriage to Virgil Olson who preceded her in death, and finally to Leonard F. Dix who also preceded her in death.

Never one to be idle with her time, Dolly enjoyed staying busy and being around the people she loved and cared for. Over the years she worked at Maylaine’s Fashions, and was the Secretary of the District Court for Virginia Doughty. Many friends also knew her from the VFW Club and Auxiliary, The Duck Blind, and hospital visits.

Dolly loved life on the farm where she took care of Perry her peacock, and was famous for baking bread pudding, peach coffee cake, cherry chocolate cake, cookies, pumpkin cinnamon muffins, and of course her cinnamon rolls. She made quilts for everyone she could think of, with a total of 128. No matter whether she was baking or quilting, everything was done with a stitch, pinch, or dash of love.

Dolly is survived by her daughters Janine Gilbert and Christopher Furman of Arnolds Park, IA, Judy Sander of Stockton, and Janette LeRoy of Plattsmouth, NE; step-son Steve Dix and wife Theresa of Ellis; son-in-law Charles “Chick” Clayton of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter-in-law Pat Dix of Stockton; brothers Normand Hrabe and wife Zoe of Stockton, and Eugene Hrabe and wife Rita of Stockton; grandchildren Terisa Clayton, Matisha Herriman, B.J. Gilbert, Bryan Gilbert, James LeRoy, Matthew LeRoy, Charlie Sander, Brian Sander, Laura Sue Terrell, Leonard Arthur Dix, Tina Scheele, and Richard Dix; and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Laura Hrabe; husbands T. Wayne Sutton, Virgil Olson, and Leonard F. Dix; daughter Janice Clayton; step-son Leonard James Dix; sister Euline Holubar; and grandchildren Laura Clayton, Kim Sander, and William Sander.

A Celebration of Life Service was held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home in Stockton. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. The Rev. Raymond Eaton Noah

The Rev. Raymond Eaton Noah, 96, husband of Cleo Patricia Noah, died on Aug. 24, 2015.

He was the son of the late Ray Orville and Lois Mae Noah of Palco, KS; brother of the late Darrel Noah; and brother of the late Ruth Walz. He received a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary after completing undergraduate study at Asbury College.

He and Cleo, his wife of 73 years, served as pastors on the Dodge City District of the Methodist church and pastors of Vallonia Circuit in Indiana. They studied Portuguese language in Portugal and became Missionaries of the Methodist church in Angola and Zimbabwe Africa; and Cascavel and Umuarama, Brazil. They also served as Pastors of the UM churches at Alexander & McCracken, KS ; Natoma and Pleasant Plains UMC; Natoma Presbyterian churches; and Luray Circuit before finally retiring and living in Hays, KS. He authored two books on Christian apologetics and had several short stories published. He moved to Lexington, KY be closer to their children.

Raymond leaves four sons to cherish his memory, Melvin Ray (Francis) Noah, Jerry Lynn (Janice) Noah, Michael Gene (Rebecca) Noah, and Richard Dale (Jenette) Noah; and they were blessed with ten grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren. Raymond is survived by a brother, Calvin Noah and a sister, Rosemary Hillman.

A memorial service will be held on September 5, 2015, 1:00 PM at Trinity Hill Methodist Church, Lexington, KY. Interment will be at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery in Ellis, KS. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Trinity Hill Methodist Church designated for missions.

Evelyn Agnes (Graczyk) Hindman

Evelyn Agnes (Graczyk) Hindman passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, Kansas, at the age of 90.

She was born on April 19, 1925 in Brady, Nebraska to the late Stanley and Antonio (Kosmiski) Graczyk. She was united in marriage to Lee Hindman on October 15, 1946 in Denver, Colorado. They were blessed with one son, Charlie.

Evelyn was a hardworking woman who always wanted to be a farmer’s wife until she found out she had allergies. However, not one to be dissuaded, she took up quilting with the church ladies, sewed her own clothing, and was the quintessential collector, with pin, doll, coffee cup, salt & pepper shakers, and angel collections.

Education was important to Evelyn, and she put hers to use as a tax adviser. Later, she worked as an accountant, preparing taxes for people and spent many years running the Star Motel in Stockton, Kansas. She was a member of the Altar Society and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville, Kansas.

Evelyn is survived by her grandchildren Tamie Hindman of Plainville, and Chuck Hindman of Hays; great-grandchildren Kristyn Brummer, Autumn Hindman, and Alana Hindman; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Antonio Graczyk, husband Lee Hindman, son Charles “Charlie” S. Hindman, brother Raymond Graczyk, and sister Alice Graczyk.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 2:00 pm at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. Burial followed in the Mount Vernon Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Sacred Heart Catholic School or Under His Wings – Domestic Violence Shelter.

Eleanor ‘Edna’ (Goetz) Heier

Eleanor “Edna” (Goetz) Heier, 81, Colby, formerly of Grainfield, died Sept. 1, 2015, at Citizens Medical Center in Colby.

She was born May 5, 1934, in rural Park to William and Irma Goetz.

She is survived by six sons, Ken of Wichita, Larry and wife Mary of Colby, Dean of Austin, Texas, John of Plano, Texas, Alan and wife Mary of Eudora, and Paul of Frisco, Texas; four daughters, Janelle Heier of Wichita, Judy Heier Hammond of Gaithersburg, Md., Cheryl Helms and husband James of Bentonville, Ark., and Emma Heier of Wichita; a brother, Jerome Goetz and wife Alice of Park; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer J. Heier, her parents, and daughter-in-law Carol Heier.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Schmitt Funeral Home in Quinter, with a vigil at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Grainfield Cemetery.

George L. “Fuzz” Cramer, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City, Kansas. He was born on June 3, 1927 in Scott City, Kansas, the son of Shirley Mulford and Della Evalyn Swilley Cramer. A lifetime resident of Healy, Kansas he was a Farmer and Rancher.

George was a member of the United Methodist Church, Methodist Men both of Healy, Kansas and Kappa Sigma Kappa Fraternity.

On August 14, 1955 he married LuElma Murray at the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas. She survives..

Survivors include his Wife – LuElma Cramer of Healy, Kansas, Three Daughters – Shawna Cramer of Scott City, Kansas, Georgia & Walter Johnson of Healy, Kansas, Lori Hawker of Scott City, Kansas, Three Grandchildren – Mark Johnson of Wichita, Kansas, Luke Johnson of Emporia, Kansas and Riley Hawker of Hays, Kansas.
