Cheryl Faye Brooks

Cheryl Faye Brooks, age 71, of Hays, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. She was born July 11, 1943 in Des Moines, IA to Willis and LaVergne (Higby) Cox. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School and attended Fort Hays State University and Kansas University. She married James Brooks June 19, 1965 at Pecusa Chapel at Wilson Lake.

She had worked as a Medical Records Clerk at St. Anthony Hospital in Hays. She was a member of St. Michaels Church in Hays, PEO, and she enjoyed singing in the choir, arts and theatre, cross stitch and crocheting.

She is survived by her husband, James of hays; a son, Brian Brooks and wife Jill and children Lucy and Olive all of Kansas City, KS; a daughter, Amy Brooks and husband Brian Lee of Fremont, CA; and a brother, Kevin Cox of Independence, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, June 12, 2015 at St. Michaels Episcopal Church in Hays.

Visitation will be Thursday 6 PM – 8 PM at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory and Friday 9 AM until service time at the church. .

Fred R. “Rusty” Clenney

Fred R. “Rusty” Clenney, 69, of Russell, Kansas, died on Saturday, June 06, 2015, at his home in Russell.

Rusty was born on November 28, 1945, in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was raised by Bob and Mildred Scott. He moved to the Russell area when he was 7 years old and attended Russell Schools. He met, fell in love, and was united in marriage to Cynthia S. Mohl on June 07, 1969, in Russell, Kansas. From this union Rusty and Cynthia were blessed with a daughter Amanda. They also helped raise his brother’s children; Larry, Susan and Jason. Rusty worked primarily in Oil Field Operations for most of his adult life but also worked in construction and as a fork lift operator. He enjoyed fishing and hunting but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends.

Surviving family include his wife Cynthia of the home, daughter Amanda R. Deibert and husband Shaun of Surprise, Arizona; family members Larry R. Clenney of Russell, Kansas, Susan R. Hurley and Jason T. Clenney both of Palm Bay, Florida ; sister Freddie M. Leonard and husband Dave of Winston Salem, North Carolina; and grandchild Jessie R. Deibert; great nieces and nephews Nicholas and Paige Clenney, Kyle Herlan and Katrina Martin and many treasured extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, adopted parents, brother Larry R. Clenney and infant son Clint R. Clenney.

A celebration of Rusty’s life and pot luck, come and go, dinner will be on Saturday, June 13, 2015, held from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M., at 1445 N. Fossil in Russell, Kansas. Family and friends are invited to attend, and enjoy food and fellowship in honoring Rusty’s life. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent in care of the mortuary to help the family with final expenses. Gilbert F. Rohr

Walker, Kansas – Gilbert F. Rohr, age 77, died Sunday, June 7, 2015, at his home in Walker, Kansas. He was born April 22, 1938, on the family farm at Yocemento, Kansas, to Gerhardt and Agnes (Brown) Rohr. He married Jeneice (Scheck) on February 8, 1958, at Walker, Kansas.

He worked most of his life in construction and the oil fields. He also worked at P & B Packers, Bella-Vista Homes and Mai Excavating. He was a US Navy veteran, a lifetime member of Victoria V.F.W. Post No. 1751 and a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church Walker, Kansas. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Jeneice Rohr, of the home; one son, Leland Rohr, Walker, KS; three daughters, Catherine Tidball and husband, Charles, WaKeeney, KS; Cindy Weigel and husband, Duane. Hays, KS; Pam Bieker, Ellis, KS; one brother, Leroy Rohr and wife, Kim, LaCrosse, KS; one sister, Pauline Meis, Catherine, KS; eight grandchildren, Michael Rohr, Peggy Arias (Paul), Amanda Esslinger (Tony), Brandy Amyx (Chris), Heidi Daharsh (DJ), Bobby Rohr, Brandon Bieker and Blake Bieker; six great grandchildren, Abrienna Esslinger, Kaleigha Arias, Nicholas Esslinger, Gianna Arias, Quentin Arias and Braelee Bieker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Evelyine Hatfield, one infant brother, Julius Rohr, one son-in-law, Allen Garner and one daughter-in-law, Shara Rohr.

Services are at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church Walker, Kansas. Burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery Walker, Kansas with military honors by the Victoria V.F.W. Post No. 1751.

A vigil service is at 6:45 P.M. Tuesday, and a Victoria V.F.W. rosary is at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, at

Kenneth Ray Kuehn

Kenneth Ray Kuehn, age 75, passed away at Cedar Village Long Term Care, Ness City, on June 4, 2015.

He was born July 12, 1939 in rural Bazine, Kansas, the son of Harry and Georgia Hoch Kuehn.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for 30 years as an employee of the Bazine COOP, and worked nine years at the Ness County landfill. He was a member of American Legion Olin Cole Post 192, Bazine.

He is survived by his brother, Larry (Susan) Kuehn, Bazine; sister, Janeen (Les) Adams, Pratt, KS; special nephew, Scott (Jennifer) Leikam, Louisburg, KS; nephews, James F. Dinsmore, Aaron (Rachel) Kuehn, David Kuehn; nieces, Karen May (Chris) Shane, Cindy Dinsmore; great-nieces, Kaitlyn, Sami, Marilea; and great-nephews, Trenton, Jordan, and Avery.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karen May Kuehn Leikam; brother-in-law, Bob Leikam.

Viewing will be Monday, June 8 and Tuesday, June 9, 9:00 A.M. – 9:00 P.M., and Wednesday, June 10, 9:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 10, 2:00 P.M. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, Kansas.

Burial in Bazine Cemetery.

Maynard Anton Herrman

Maynard Anton Herrman, 82, died Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born August 29, 1932 in McCracken, KS to Anton and Agnes (Kreutzer) Herrman. He married Luella Dinges on October 15, 1951 in Hays.

He worked at Fort Hays State University for 42 years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the St. Joseph’s Council 3rd degree Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed gardening and reminiscing with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Luella of the home; two sons, Ronald Herrman of Wakeeney and Steven Herrman of Rockport, TX; a daughter, Trudy Leikam and Husband Robert of Hays; a sister, Frances Ridler and husband Max of Hays; seven grandchildren, Joshua Herrman, Jacob Herrman and wife Carol, Lucas Herrman, Quinton Herrman, Sarah Fischer and husband Shawn, Annie Bollig and husband Preston and Chrissy Driscoll and husband Tony and nine great grandchildren, Marissa, Ariel and Tim Herrman, Lukas Herrman, Alexia Herrman, Shaylee and Carli Jo Fischer, Tracyn and Davin Bollig.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Herbert and Willard; and two sisters, Florina Roth and Linda Igo.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Richard Ernest Neumann

Richard Ernest Neumann,age 69, of Ellis, died Friday, June 5th 2015 at the Logan County Hospital in Oakley, Kansas. He was born April 18,1946, in Greensburg, KS to Gladys and Lester Neumann. After completing high school in Mullinville in 1964, Richard graduated from Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor’s degree in History. Soon after, on June 15, 1968, he married the love of his life, Louise Purdy.

Richard was a lifelong farmer in Kiowa and Comanche counties. He was a machinery enthusiast and master model builder of miniature farm equipment. He was an active member of the Ellis community, serving on the city planning commission and cemetery committee.

Richard leaves behind his beloved wife, Louise, and two sons, Aaron and Brett, as well as his sisters, Maurine Sutton, Mary Adams and Linda Dunham. He adored his grandchildren, Cayle, Aiden, Brady and Olivia.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Walter and Kenneth, and two sisters, Bertha and Ellen Boll.

Services will be 10 AM, Wednesday, June 10th at Christ Lutheran Church of Ellis. Burial will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ellis.

Visitation will be Tuesday 4 PM – 8 PM with the family present from 6 PM – 8 PM at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th Ellis, KS 67637.

Louis Raymond Andrasek

Louis Raymond Andrasek, age 97 years, 9 months, and 3 days, died June 3, 2015 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. He was born on August 31, 1917, in Timken, Kansas, the son of Bohus And Matilda Bresperat Andrasek.

His Father came to the United States as a young man from Czechoslovakia and became a United States citizen. Louis was a member of the Assembly of God Church and the Finney County VIP Center both of Garden City, Kansas.

He worked at Century Refinery, on the railroad, farmer, carpet leaning, the Scott County Road Department, and as a custodian for the Scott Community High School.

He married Edna Mae Scott who passed away in March of 1981. Following Edna’s passing Louis married, Marjorie Boese Kitch who passed away in April of 2008.
