NEW YORK (AP) – The song Dolly Parton says is the favorite one she wrote will be turned into a TV movie. NBC will develop a movie called “Coat of Many Colors.” Parton will serve as executive producer. No word on when the movie will run. Parton’s original coat of many colors is on display at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

NASHVILLE (AP) – Tyler Farr had a special gig at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium over the weekend. He got access to it so he could propose to his girlfriend, Hannah Freeman. She said yes. They have been dating for two and a half years. Farr calls Freeman his best friend and the woman who makes him a better person. He says he could not imagine a better church for the proposal than “the mother church of country music.” They have not announced a wedding date.

NEW YORK (AP) – Miranda Lambert graces the cover of Country Living magazine, and that’s kind of a big deal. The magazine has never put a person on its cover in its 36 years of publication. Lambert will also be the guest editor for the June edition. Lambert discusses her husband, Blake Shelton, and his love for gardening. She says he plans to plant tomatoes and strawberries and they intend to make jam.

LA HABRA, Calif. (AP) – A little girl from La Habra, California, sent a card to a random member of the military and got a visit from Trace Adkins. He was doing a tour with the USO in Kandahar, Afghanistan, when a large donation of cookies and cards from the Girl Scouts was delivered. Adkins and Lt. Col. Bill Wyles randomly selected a letter and it was from Jessica Santos. Adkins and Wyles took a photo of the card, and Adkins promised to return it to Santos to let her know how much it meant to American troops. Adkins met with Santos on Tuesday and told her the news personally.

NASHVILLE (AP) – Moe Bandy and Gene Watson will film a TV pilot next week. They plan to perform their hits as part of a concert at Joey + Rory’s Farmhouse Concert Hall in Columbia, Tennessee, next Tuesday. The nature of the TV show and the network where it will run were not revealed.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Little Big Town, Faith Hill and Van Halen have been added to the Billboard Music Awards. Little Big Town and Faith Hill will collaborate on a performance of “Girl Crush.” Van Halen have never performed on an award show before. The Billboard Music Awards are May 17 in Las Vegas and they will be shown live on ABC.

NEW YORK (AP) – Randy Houser is planning a wedding. His representative tells People magazine Houser is engaged to Tatiana Starzynski. He’s 39, she’s 21. Houser was previously married to songwriter Jessica Lee Yantz. They split last year and they have a three-year-old son together. No word on when Houser and Starzynski will marry.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – If Blake Shelton ever takes a break from “The Voice,” he thinks Luke Bryan would be an excellent replacement. He’s just not sure that Bryan is as lazy as he is. Shelton says a musician has to give up touring to do the show, and after 15 years of being on the road, he was ready to sit in one spot for months at a time. Shelton keeps in touch with most of the people who have been on his team, so much that he feels like he’s adopting half of them. Shelton says he can’t be in the trenches with the contestants and just set them loose when the show ends

DALLAS (AP) – Willie Nelson is not only creating his own line of marijuana, he says it will be “the best on the market.” Nelson has announced the Willie’s Reserve line will be grown and sold in Colorado and Washington state, where recreational use of pot is legal. Nelson is collaborating with master growers for what he describes as “clean and consistent products.” No word on when Willie’s Reserve will be available.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – Randy Travis has written an open letter thanking fans for their support following his unexpected appearance at the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday. Travis suffered a stroke two years ago and is unable to speak. He writes on his website, Mary reads every card and letter to him and they’ve gotten him through the darkest days. Travis says he still has a lot of music he wants to share, and while he works through therapy to regain his strength, he hopes his “songs of yesterday continue to touch your life in some way.”
The country superstar married Mary Davis on March 21, confirms Travis’ rep, Kirt Webster. The two have been engaged since before his devastating stroke in July 2013.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – If it seemed that Luke Bryan didn’t get his full moment in the spotlight after winning entertainer of the year at the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday, you’re right on target. Bryan says even though he had just won the big award, he was given only 18 seconds to make his speech. He says Blake Shelton rushing the stage to celebrate with him was Shelton’s way of cutting Bryan’s speech short, because the show was already running long. Bryan says he wouldn’t have wanted it any other way and calls Shelton’s move a “perfect situation altogether.”
