I’d like to commend Eagle Radio and its partners for their recent ‘non-coverage’ of Westboro Church and its group of haters. Apparently that group protested on the day of Bryan Nichols funeral. I didn’t know a thing about it and you know what, I’m glad. The sooner the media starts ignoring the Phelps group, the sooner they’ll die a lonely death. Thank you Eagle for paying no attention to them and thank you men and women of the armed forces for your service to our country.
How do you think the media should treat groups such as this?
If you want to see another blatant example of social activism at the expense of traditional marriage, go no further than The Learning Channel (TLC).
Part of TLC’s knowledge-enhancing program lineup is the show featuring polygamist Kody Brown and his ever-growing, Utah-based harem of “Sister Wives.” The show is spun as a unique look at a non-traditional family that faces the same struggles as regular folks and manages to make it through life with strong bonds of love and respect. That sounds really nice doesn’t it? The truth of this dysfunctional group and their attempts at TV stardom are much darker, and much more dangerous to traditional American culture.
Researching the Kody Brown clan forced me to delve into the TV program. From doing so I discovered that Kody Brown, a sales and advertising agent, married his first wife Meri conventionally in 1990. Since then, Brown has been collecting and impregnating additional concubines, like Janelle, Christine and Robyn, at a consistent rate. Brown’s women take on his last name, bear his offspring, and work to pay for the cost of the polygamist lifestyle. The show, Sister Wives, despite being given a positive spin, still highlights the cult-like mentality of polygamy groups.
Kody Brown emanates a shyster vibe that is common with manipulators found in cult settings. He preaches to his bedroom cohorts that they are each individually special and respected while at the same time adding new women to his brothel. Even during the two seasons of Sister Wives so far, Kody Brown has decided that three special wives is just not enough, and has added another woman to his collection. What we have here is one serious jive turkey in Kody Brown running some even more serious jive of some impressionable women. However, if we look at Sister Wives more critically, we can access Brown and the layers of hypocrisy in this show more adequately.
Brown’s jive is more clearly seen as a constant manipulation of the women he exploits. Within the Brown polygamy system, he alone receives the carnal benefit of a sexual smorgasbord of duped female lovers, while the women do nothing more than bear and raise his children and sell jelly at the airport. This is truly cult-like activity. It is doubtful that Kody Brown’s cherub-like smile would withstand a request from his stable to bring another man into the love circle. I suspect that would spoil the “specialness” of these marriages.
The next example of hypocrisy that screams to be addressed is the fact that this cult is not behind bars. Utah has anti-polygamy laws and this faction has more than written their confession to the crime of polygamy on national television. Where is the law here? One cult leader, four wives, sixteen children and no legal accountability.
Brent Bozell in NewsBusters adequately shows that Kody Brown and his Sister Wives wish to push polygamy into the mainstream culture and are willing to flout the laws of the land to do so. For them, breaking down traditional marriage is more than potentially circumventing the law; it is an attempt to be accepted into a culture that has traditionally been bound by biblical values on the subject. Sister Wives is nothing less than a counterculture advocacy program that undermines biblical values and promotes sexual perversion.
Lastly, and probably the largest example of hypocrisy is that TLC allows itself to be the vehicle for the dissemination, and the accomplice in the crime of polygamy. There is no rational spin that can be forwarded that will decrease their culpability in this attempt to lead the American culture astray on the values of marriage.
Traditional marriage is the cornerstone of America. The guidelines to this institution are firmly and clearly laid out within God’s law and are in clear opposition to the Sister Wife lifestyle. To deviate from the cornerstone from which American life springs forth is to guarantee social calamity, suffering and pain. It matters not whether the merchants of deviance wish to push gay marriage, adultery, polygamy or any other cleverly altered variation of this kind. We would be wise to fight it, we would be just to defeat it, and we would be blessed to teach our children to do the same.

If you can stand the Japanese subtitles in the video below, you just may learn how to cool off your car before getting in.
As we all know, thanks to this great heat wave, it’s nearly unbearable to jump into your car after it’s been sitting out in the sun. (NOTE – This doesn’t apply to those with the fancy schmancy auto-start systems).
We were skeptical that this would actually work, but after testing it out this afternoon, we can confirm that it does work pretty well.
Now, it won’t feel like the Coors Light Ice Train is moving through, but it will get the extremely hot air out of your car long enough to get the air conditioner working.
Steps:
1. Roll down one window in your car.
2. Open and shut a door on the opposite side 5-6 times.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Parents seeking healthier restaurant meals for their kids can start to look beyond chicken nuggets and macaroni-and-cheese.
At least 19 large restaurant chains — including Burger King, Chili’s, IHOP and Friendly’s — plan to announce that they will include healthier options on their children’s menus. At least 15,000 restaurant locations will focus on increasing servings of fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains and low-fat dairy. The items will have less fats, sugars and sodium.
Less healthy foods like burgers and fries will still be on the menu, but the restaurants say they will do more to promote healthier options. Chili’s, for example, will highlight a chicken sandwich with a side of pineapple or mandarin oranges on their kids’ menu. Burger King has recently reformulated children’s chicken nuggets so they include less sodium, and employees taking orders will ask if customers want healthier apple fries instead of the standard “fries with that?”
The effort is part of a new National Restaurant Association initiative to give kids more healthy options at restaurants and to make it easier for parents to find those options. Some of the items are already on menus, but restaurants will advertise them more prominently and flag the healthier menu items to make ordering easier.
To be part of the program, restaurants must include at least one kids’ menu item that is 600 calories or less and meets other nutritional requirements. A side dish worth less than 200 calories must also be included.
“This could provide a great push toward healthier offerings at restaurants,” said Robert Post, the Agriculture Department official in charge of developing the department’s dietary guidelines, which came out earlier this year. Those urged Americans to eat less salt.
“We hope this is a trend toward new items and voluntary reformulations,” Post said.
The companies signing up for the initiative are Au Bon Pain, Bonefish Grill, Burger King, Burgerville, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Chevys, Chili’s, Corner Bakery Cafe, Cracker Barrel, Denny’s, El Pollo Loco, Friendly’s, IHOP, Joe’s Crab Shack, Outback Steakhouse, Silver Diner, Sizzler, T-Bones Great American Eatery and zpizza.
Joe Taylor of Chili’s said the company has responded to consumer demands for healthier foods. While diners looking for a healthier meal used to have to ask for substitutions, they now have more options.
“We’ve seen our guests customize their meals to a greater degree when they are looking to hold the mayo or add the broccoli,” Taylor said.
Patrick Lenow of IHOP said the restaurant will add two new children’s menu items because of the effort, including pancakes with fruit and scrambled eggs with fruit. The company had already limited everything on their children’s menu to under 600 calories and made fruit a default side, instead of fries — a change that has dramatically increased fruit consumption at the restaurants, Lenow said.
Several restaurant chains haven’t committed yet to joining the effort. Maggiano’s, owned with Chili’s by Brinker International, is not part of the program. Neither is McDonald’s, the world’s largest burger chain.
Dawn Sweeney, president and CEO of the National Restaurant Association, said the group is hoping to add additional restaurants to the effort in coming months.
First lady Michelle Obama last year attended a National Restaurant Association meeting in Washington and pleaded with them to take a little butter or cream out of their dishes, use low-fat milk and provide apple slices or carrots as a default side dish on the kids’ menu. She said Americans eat a third of their meals in restaurants, which have long been seen by many as the worst offenders in terms of nutrition.
Many restaurant companies are starting to reformulate menu items and add new healthier sections to their menus, however, as consumers have shown a heightened interest in nutrition.
The federal government will also soon require restaurants to post calories on their menus. FDA guidelines will require chain restaurants with 20 or more locations, along with bakeries, grocery stores, convenience stores and coffee chains, to clearly post the calories.
John Dillon of Denny’s said the company recently took photos of French fries off their menus.
“Where before we may have been concerned about not having French fries pictured on our menu, we’re now finding that has actually helped our business,” he said.
