KFIX Rock News: Ringo Starr Selling Copy 1 Of The White Album

beatcollageLOS ANGELES (AP) – The original copies of The Beatles’ White Album have numbers on the covers indicating in what order in the printing process those copies were made.

It’s commonly known that The Beatles kept numbers 1 through 4, but many people don’t know that Ringo Starr has copy number 1 — and now he’s selling it.

Julien’s Auctions says Starr kept it in a London bank vault for 35 years.

In spite of that, it’s not quite in mint condition because a corner has a slight fold.

It’s expected to sell for between $40,000 and $60,000 by the time the auction ends December 3.

greatinPROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Great White singer Jack Russell is hoping he can apologize for the 2003 nightclub fire in West Warwick, Rhode Island, with a documentary.

Russell tells KFBW-FM in Portland, Oregon, he is still horrified by that night. One hundred people died, including Great White guitarist Ty Longley.

The fire was sparked by Great White’s pyrotechnics that ignited foam used for soundproofing.

Russell says he feels guilty that people came to see him play and lost their lives.

He says his lawyer at the time told him not to say he was sorry because that implied guilt.

Gina Russo, who was severely burned in the fire, says she refused to participate in the documentary.

She says she wishes Russell would understand he’s hurt enough people and just leave it. Russell has not said when the movie would be released.
