The Bruce Springsteen documentary, The Ties That Bind, is set for its HBO debut.
The film will premiere 9 p.m. November 27 on the network.
Directed by Thom Zimney, the 60-minute documentary offers an in-depth interview with The Boss about the creation of The River, as well as segments in which Bruce plays some of the songs on acoustic guitar.

It features four CDs and three DVDs, including a remastered edition of the original 20-track album, an early 10-song single-disc version of the record, a variety of outtakes, a new making-of documentary, a previously unreleased 1980 concert video, and more.
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) – The acoustic guitar John Lennon used to write and record “Love Me Do” and “I Want To Hold Your Hand” has sold at auction for $2.4 million.
Julien’s Auctions says the Gibson J-160E guitar was sold Saturday to an undisclosed buyer.
Lennon had the guitar for about a year before swapping it with George Harrison, and then it disappeared for 50 years.
A California man bought it in the late 1960s for $275 and saw an old magazine story that showed Harrison with the guitar.
An expert matched the guitar’s serial number and wood markings to the one Lennon had owned.

Jeff Lynne recently relaunched his old band Electric Light Orchestra under the name Jeff Lynne’s ELO, and on November 13, they’ll release Alone in the Universe, ELO’s first album of new original songs in almost 15 years.
Now, one of those new tunes, “One Step at a Time,” has gotten its exclusive premiere at EW.com.
The track features modern electronic beats during the verse before moving into a dance-able melodic chorus reminiscent of many of ELO’s 1970s hits.
“I didn’t have quite enough up-tempo [songs],” Lynne tells Entertainment Weekly with regard to writing “One Step at a Time.” “It’s got some very intricate chords in the verse, which I like a lot, because it’s sort of old-fashioned music but with a regular rock and roll beat.”
Alone in the Universe is an apt name for the album, since Lynne wrote all the songs and played all the instruments on the record. As for his decision to revive the ELO moniker, Jeff points out, “I wrote every song that that name has ever done. I think it’s a shame to throw it away, because it is my legacy.”
Lynne explains his approach to composing the material on Alone in the Universe was influenced by his 2012 solo album, Long Wave, a collection of standards, show tunes, early rock ‘n’ roll songs and other cover tunes that inspired his own music.
“I learned how those old masters used to write those songs, because I learned every part on every instrument to make the record,” says Jeff. “It taught me different ways of reaching the same place but going a different route.”
He adds, “The whole album represents these new chords and just the thrill of it. I know [how] to get a sound exactly as I want it, and I know which way to get it.”
Earlier this week, Lynne debuted the official video for another track from Alone in the Universe, “When I Was a Boy.” You can watch the clip online at the official ELO VEVO channel.

UNDATED (AP) – Forty years ago today, the world had not yet heard “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen. That all changed on October 31, 1975.
The song should have failed coming out of the gate. It was the most expensive single ever made up to that point and the opera parts alone took 70 hours to record.
Record label executives said at nearly six minutes long, it was too long to get radio airplay. Record buyers thought otherwise.
It was Queen’s first number-one single in the U.S., and it was the first British single to hit number one twice with the same version.
It shot back onto the U.S. charts in 1992 when it was used in the movie “Wayne’s World.”
Queen guitarist Brian May says he remembers Freddie Mercury bringing it into the studio and pounding on the piano.
He says Mercury played piano the way most people play drums.
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Lynyrd Skynyrd frontman Johnny Van Zant describes guitarist Gary Rossington’s heart attack as “slight” and says Rossington is itching to get back to touring.
Van Zant tells Billboard magazine Rossington suffered the attack two weeks ago while in a hospital for another procedure and his doctors took him off his blood-thinning medication.
Van Zant says he recently told Rossington they should just cancel the rest of their shows for the year.
Rossington told him he’s been thinking about what’s important to him and it’s family and playing the guitar, so he wants to play shows.
Lynyrd Skynyrd’s next scheduled date is the Alabama National Fair in Montgomery on November 7.
