TMP-Marian baseball splits with Colby

Game 1: Colby 8, TMP 6
It was a back and fourth affair between TMP and Colby in game one of the day at TMP Field.  Colby scored the first two runs of the day before TMP countered with the next four.  Then it was Colby’s turn to score the next four and take a 6-4 lead.  The Monarchs tied the game up 6-6 going into the seventh inning and Colby had four straight hits to lead off the inning and took an 8-6 lead going into the bottom of the inning.

TMP would get a leadoff single which was quickly erased by a double play and the threat was over.  The loss was the fifth on the season for TMP.  Cameron Brin took the loss on the mound for the Monarchs,  He is now 3-3 on the season.

Game 2: TMP 6, Colby 5
TMP used a furious two out, fifth inning rally to secure a win in their final game of the regular season.  Leading 3-2 going into the bottom of the fifth, it looked as though it would be an easy defensive inning for Colby as the first two Monarchs were retired with just four pitches thrown.  TMP had a different idea.  The Monarchs ended up scoring three runs in the frame highlighted by a Taylor Wasinger two RBI triple.  TMP would tack on one more run to make it a 6-2 game.

Colby would score one more in the sixth and two in the top of the seventh to make things interesting.  Braiden Werth picked up the win for TMP who is now 15-5 on the season.  They will be in Holcomb on Tuesday afternoon for 3A Regional play.  They are the number one seed and will take on either Holcomb or Haven at 2pm.
